There should have been no reason for Alyssa Marie Stevins to love or even like Laughing Jack and yet, there she was, caring for him with every ounce of her being.
Laughing Jack’s existence had only begun being recorded in 2013, but he existed longer than that. Her Grandma had met him and he was there to console her when all of her friends died. Sure, the gory murders were suspiciously akin to how Laughing Jack’s kills were, but that didn’t mean that he killed them. Humans were also capable of such atrocities.
And when Alyssa herself met him, he had shown nothing but kindness towards her. He cared about helping her find Kevin, he wanted to keep her safe from her parents, from the world, he wanted to make her smile…
His stories were full of blood and gore, but he was so, so, so much more than that, she could sense it. The stories didn’t do him any justice, she needed to write more about him, to show the world just how truly amazing and caring he was, he deserved to be known for all the love and compassion he had, she just needed to do him justice.
Alyssa wouldn’t fail him.

Umm yeah Alyssa, there is no reason you should feel like that about LJ! I’m only joking, but it makes for an interesting start to Alyssa's character. Is she just very sympathetic or is there a deeper reason? I’m intrigued to find out.
This sentence reads a little but clumsy. I think something my like “Though Laughing Jack’s first recorded appearance was in 2013, he had existed long before that.” Is a little more concise.

I also really love how you portray her enthusiasm about him and how ready she is to ignore all the stories. They might as well be fabrications in THIS universe after all. There are quite a few versions of the character, even in YOUR portfolio… so maybe this is one of the good ones? Or maybe Alyssa is only deluding herself. Love the ambiguity!

Yes, it is the same Alyssa. I’m writing a part two of the story you’re reading with Nina which is about her. It isn’t on this site but it will be when I’m finished.
