First day of eighth grade!1!1!1!

*This fanfic is under my folder titled “Creepypasta stuff”. Jeff Woods and his family were created by GameFuelTV. This is from the Creepypasta fandom. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs<33[2]”. This is a snippet of my AU of Jeff the Killer. Enjoy!*

Jeff knew that he had to get up. The sun was streaming in through his weak, barely-held together blinds. Downstairs, he could hear Liu making breakfast and the blur of the local news on the TV. A few minutes ago, Mom had slammed open his door and told him “Get out of bed, you’re not a vampire”, but he didn’t exactly feel like moving. As a matter of fact, he didn’t want to get up at all.

For that morning wasn’t just any morning, but the first day of eighth grade. It would be another year of having to deal with other kids staring at him, teachers lamenting that they got “the bad twin”, and all-in-all, slugging along the year. He was used to it, but it didn’t make it any better.

Not only that, but it was his last year of middle school. After eighth grade, it was off to high school for him and Liu! The both of them would have to start “thinking about their future” and then everyone would be telling Jeff how to be “more of an adult” which all consisted of him throwing out his personality in favor of being “normal”.

He was always told that he had to be a certain way, but that would happen even more from the upcoming high school years.

Frankly, Jeff was tired of it all. Tired of all the adults and kids staring at him, whispering about how “weird” he was and hoping that he’d “change for the better”. There was nothing wrong with him and he didn’t want to hear it anymore.

But he’d try and get through it. It would be another year of Hell, but he’d get through it. He’d survive, just like the teen vampires in his favorite show.

Jeff pulled back the covers, prepared to face his last first day of middle school.

………………………………………………………………….

Jeff stabbed his knife into his scrambled eggs, waiting for his parents to start with their usual talk. He was at the dining room table with his parents and Liu, trying to ignore the way his parents were staring daggers at him. He knew what they were thinking, but he hoped that their morning could go on peacefully, that it would be different.

“Jeff, it’s the first day of school and you’re going like that? Can’t you dress a little nicer, like Liu?” Mom asked, her soft voice laced with venom.

Jeff gripped the fork a little tighter as he let the familiar words swim into his brain. Be more like Liu? But he wasn’t Liu, he didn’t care to be like Liu, and he would never-

“Take off that makeup, too. It’s hideous. It makes you look like a corpse.” Dad snapped.

That was the entire point. To look as dead as possible.

Sure, Jeff could very easily wipe off the black makeup and dress like Liu, but he’d feel like he the ugliest creature alive and he didn’t want to come to school feeling more disgusted than he already did. Why did his parents care so much about how he looked? It wasn’t that big of a deal, yet they always made it a point that Jeff looked “creepy”.

Honestly, did they have anything better to do other than comment on how “different” he was? When were they going to say something more interesting? More unique? Would they keep saying it, forever and ever? Why couldn’t they just shut up and-

“I don’t like it when you guys compare me and Jeff. Please don’t do that. It feels weird.” Liu said suddenly.

Their parents grimaced as they had swallowed three hundred lemons. Jeff smiled softly, glad that at least Liu didn’t pick on him. Liu definitely didn’t understand Jeff’s interests, but he never told him to act differently from who he really was and that was something that Jeff was immensely grateful for.

“We’re just trying to help-“

“It’s not helping anyone, Mom. I don’t like it and I’m sure that Jeff doesn’t like it either. How do you feel about it, Jeff?” Liu asked, giving Jeff the chance to speak.

Jeff wasted no time (for what if his parents said something unnecessary?) and said:

“It’s annoying that you guys do that. I’m not going to change, so stop trying. Can I eat in peace now?”

With that, Jeff didn’t speak on the matter any further. He continued eating his breakfast, his parents were saying stuff on how things were “going to change” and that Jeff couldn’t “keep up with the attitude”. What attitude? He didn’t have an attitude, he just wasn’t an agreeable little kid anymore and his parents didn’t like it. He was always a spooky kid, but his parents seemed to tolerate because he was younger and “kids will be kids”. They must have thought that it was a phase. That he would grow out of it.

No matter what anybody said, he’d always stay true to himself. No matter what happened, he’d keep putting on black makeup and watching his vampire shows, because to be somebody else would feel like real death, finality and all.

Jeff wouldn’t live like that.

Review

Hello, creeper! Happy Review Month! Valkyria here to leave a short review for your work. I noticed that this has been in the Green Room for a while, so let's get it out!

As usual, I am unfamiliar with the overarching story and characters, so I will be reviewing this on its own. I really enjoy the characterizations of all the characters. They feel real, like a dysfunctional family you could know in real life. And I really sympathize with Jeff. The poor kid is trying to survive the school year, but almost nobody is on his side, including his parents. At least, his brother is kind to him. Speaking, can we give Liu his kudos for sticking up for Jeff to their parents. I image it must be just as hard for him.

In a short scene, you set the family's dynamic with each other very well. Through the parents' snappy comments and the kids' discomfort with them, I can picture what this family is like vividly. Jeff is also relatable, especially with the section about high school and thinking about the future. It seems so far away, and some kids don't even want to think about it.

The parents are jerks. I hope they get what's coming to them. This was a very fun read! Well done!

Hello fellow writer! Ley here to write a tortoise-y review! This is a review style that I'm using only for the month of June, in spirit of the Great Tortoise Race! Let's get started, 'shell' we? xD

Shell Start: I don't think I've read this story before or been introduced to this new protagonist-- so I had to check it out! As always, I'll start out with what I loved about this story, followed by some optional suggestions ~

Favorite Leaf:

Not only that, but it was his last year of middle school. After eighth grade, it was off to high school for him and Liu! The both of them would have to start “thinking about their future” and then everyone would be telling Jeff how to be “more of an adult” which all consisted of him throwing out his personality in favor of being “normal”.

Love the fact you introduced Liu and Jeff's dynamic early on. It gave me some context and made Jeff's internal monologue even more relatable. Feeling thoughts of alienation and pressure to conform or be like his twin brother-- he's a unique character and I can't wait to read more about him! Jeff reminds me of the typical 8th grader-- which is awesome for making the story somewhat realistic.

“Jeff, it’s the first day of school and you’re going like that? Can’t you dress a little nicer, like Liu?” Mom asked, her soft voice laced with venom.

Again, this is awesome because it gives the reader an idea of Jeff's experiences at home-- and I'm guessing later, we'll see what it's like for him at school. Based on what's said so far, I have a feeling his school-life won't be any better :(

“I don’t like it when you guys compare me and Jeff. Please don’t do that. It feels weird.” Liu said suddenly.

I really admire Jeff for saying this and standing up for himself. We find out by this point in the story Jeff isn't quiet-- nor is he the type to let people push him around. I'm glad no matter the instance, Jeff isn't afraid to speak his mind! Wonderful detail, here ^^

Shell Fractures:
I don't have any suggestions here! I enjoyed the dialogue and internal monologue. There were a few grammar mistakes, but they were so minor that I don't think they're worth mentioning! <3

Overall:
Overall, I'm excited to see what life is like for Jeff at school! I'm not a big fan of the twins' parents, so let's hope they get a rude awakening in the next few parts or at least learn acceptance towards both of their children, not just one! Thank you for sharing, it was a fun read!

I hope to see you join the race, and keep being awesome! Happy Writing~

Ooh glad you like it! Jeff Woods is a Creepypasta character (and fairly popular) but this is my AU version of him!

There are more fanfics of him I made:

Jeff Woods gets ready for spooky season! (This takes place when he%u2019s a young child)

Jeff excitedly tells Liu about the glories of Halloween, Liu disagrees (This also takes place when Jeff is a child)

Jeff gets ready for Halloween…as an adult. (He%u2019s an adult in this one)

Jeff’s proxy pledge (A little proxy pledge I made of him)

I made this fanfic that connects to this one!:

The walk to school!
