*This fanfic is underneath my folder titled “Creepypasta stuff”. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum: https://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=117842&start=105. This is my AU Laughing Jack’s perspective in his origin story, which you can just find online by searching up “The origin of Laughing Jack.” Enjoy!*
Introduction
The only thing I know is that I am Laughing Jack the clown. I can make candy, I can bring life to dead toys, and I can really play the accordion. Somewhere in my mind, I know what I look like.
I know not who I’m being sent to or what will happen along the way. I was told to be a good friend to a lonely child.
The worst thing is that there are more lonely children in the world than the one I’m being sent to, but I have to speak with only one.
The only thing I want is to be a good friend.
That’s the only thing.
Chapter One
I’m hugging a little boy with messy blond hair and tear stained eyes. Somehow, I know that he isn’t sad. He’s happy.
His name is Isaac. Isaac Grossman. I already know what his name is, because I am Laughing Jack and there’s nothing Laughing Jack can’t do!
He was so happy when he saw me. That made me happy too. All I want is for my friend to be happy.
And now that we’re together, nothing can separate us! No-
Keep a close eye on him.
It’s the voices. They’re the ones who made me. They’re the ones who told me to watch him.
Of course. Why wouldn’t I?
You tend to lose focus.
That’s not nice.
It’s the truth, Jack-
It’s LAUGHING JACK, not JACK. Goodness, that name is so boring!
Well, just do your job-
This isn’t a JOB. He’s my FRIEND.
We-
Leave me alone.
Fine. If that is what you wish.
Finally, they’re gone! Why do they have to be so boring?
Chapter Two
I sit on the bed, watching Isaac sleep. I wish that I could sleep, so I could go to a wonderful place called dreams.
I mean, I could go in my bo-
NO!
It’s the voices again.
Why not?
You dumb, stupid fool! Don’t you remember? Only Isaac can open the box. If you foolishly go in there for a little day trip, you’ll be stuck in there for-
But Isaac will know to open it.
Really? He’s just a kid, after-
He’s MY kid!
YOUR kid? What do you mean, YOUR kid?
I don’t answer back. I don’t even move from my spot. I’m not in the mood to go back in the box. I just..what? Something wet is coming out of my eyes and I feel really bad. I don’t know what I’m doing, but I don’t like it.
Why do they have to be so..so..mean?
Isaac stirs in his sleep and I wipe the stuff from my face as best as I can. I can’t let him see it.
Chapter Three
Isaac has left to do work outside. When he comes back, I want to play pirates with him!
We’re best friends! We’ve been best friends for a very very long time and I didn’t even get bothered by the voices once-
Jack, you have to teach-
I WASN’T MADE TO TEACH! LEAVE ME ALONE!
Nope. They’re still here.

Hello, hello!
I like how simple and innocent this introduction sounds because it immediately makes Laughing Jack feel newly created and childlike. The list of abilities also gives me a quick sense of what kind of character he is, though "Somewhere in my mind, I know what I look like" feels a little vague. Does he see an image of himself without understanding where it came from, or does he simply instinctively know what he is?
This is probably my favourite moment because Jack doesn’t even understand that he is crying. It makes him feel very vulnerable and reinforces the idea that he has been created with abilities and instructions but very little emotional understanding. I’d perhaps slow the discovery down, though. He might touch his face, examine the wetness on his fingers or wonder whether something is broken inside him. I think, right now, he seems to brush past this moment without considering much why it is happening to him.
***
Laughing Jack’s voice comes across clearly here! He is excitable, possessive, easily distracted and genuinely desperate to be Isaac’s friend, which makes him quite endearing even when some of his thoughts begin to sound a little scary. I think that creates a good sense of unease for me beneath what initially appears to be a sweet relationship, which creates an interesting dynamic. I am not sure whether to trust LJ!
The voices are interesting because they seem to function as Jack’s creators, supervisors and perhaps the only source of information he has about himself. Their arguments with him also reveal a lot without requiring a large amount of explanation. I would like a little more distinction between the different voices, though, especially since Jack refers to them as "they." At the moment they mostly sound like a single stern speaker. Who are they supposed to be? Is it something to do with his Creepypasta nature?
Also, the chapters are extremely short, and Chapters Two and Three feel more like extensions of the first scene than separate chapters. There isn’t a meaningful change in location, time or conflict between them beyond Isaac going to sleep and then leaving to work. I think this would flow better as one opening chapter, with scene breaks if necessary.
Cheers!

Thx for reading/advice! The voices are the angels who created him, which was not mentioned in the original story but thought of putting in there.
^v^
Hia creeper! I like the start of this story, gets me right in the head of LJ here!
(especially the thing with the accordion xD)
That said I find this sentence a bit… awkward:
Because… well, the phrasing is very stiff and doesn’t really flow well. It doesn’t really tell us anything about LJ’s feelings on the matter. Maybe if you combine it with his actual thoughts it could work better? Like, is he annoyed that he’s send to take care of a child and bringing up the others to remind the higher entity that called him to this task of how futile everything is? Or is he sad that he can only help this one child when so many are suffering? The sentence provides neither of this.
I like that he corrects the voices, that he finds just “Jack” boring xd
Hmmmm so the voices are not part of whatever sent him to Isaac, noted.
I…can’t see this ending well. Oh now I am worried…
Hmm in Ch3, I don’t think it comes adequately across how much time has passed. I get the distinct feeling that LJ just THOUGHT a lot of time passed because he doesn’t really have a good feel for the passage of time yet.

I am glad you enjoyed this! I wrote this back in 2022, but I think I might add some more details to describe things.
