Good evening, human. I am truly sorry to bother you while you’re out taking a walk on this fine night, but I’m feeling a bit on edge right now, so I shall partake in what the youth call “venting” and let out my innermost thoughts to you, human! Do not run or you shall pay. Now…

You have no idea how hard it is for me to go out and do things in this period. Kids these days…they don’t act like kids. I can’t impress them with candy or magic tricks anymore, because kids don’t care about that stuff. They all want new technological devices that I can’t keep up with and that I cannot obtain.

And don’t get me started on when I start to kill them. They’re not even terrified for their lives, they’re just disgusted by the blood! The attitudes they have are the worst, because they think that they can say whatever they want without any consequences. Honestly, we should bring back child labor and make those awful kids understand what real pain is like.

Not only that, but every time I show up, they all call me “emo” or “goth” Pennywise! Nobody knows who I am! I take all this time to put on a performance and get them to stay, because I’m a clown, you know, and I get really excited, especially now, since it’s Halloween, but kids don’t want to go out anymore! Kids don’t do anything anymore! Humans don’t even know me! My whole purpose is to bring whimsical clown chaos, but nobody cares, everybody is apathetic, killing isn’t even fun anymore and-

What’s that? You want to stay with me? Listen to my stories? That’s a bit unwise on your part, I just admitted that I kill people! I’m Laughing Jack, for crying out loud!

Oh, but you feel bad for me? You think I’m interesting and want to stick around? Alright then, since you’re being so polite, I’ll humor you like a true clown and tell you some of my life stories, maybe even throw a joke here and there. Just do me a favor and laugh at the jokes, even if they’re abysmally bad, because if you do, it will take a slower time for me to get in one of my murdery moods. It won’t go away, it will just be slower.

You’re not leaving? Gosh darn, I guess you really want to stay! Well then, let’s go sit by this dead tree and I shall whisk us to my carnival, where I will begin my sorrowful tale.

……………………………………………

……………………………………………

There we are, human! At my carnival! How do you like it? I know that this place has seen better days and it did used to look all bright and colorful, but that was when I used to be all rainbows. That was before him, before-

Oh, don’t look so sad. You already know the full story. Well, what the human who witnessed me and spent enough time with me got out of my story, anyhow. It’s been over two hundred years, I suppose I should be over Isaac now.

I am over him, for the most part. I’m happy to be the clown that I am today, I could not have done it without him, but you know, friendship is so strange, so odd. Especially if it’s someone you cherish deeply. You never really get over a person that has seen themselves deep into your heart and your soul, you just grow numb to it. You learn to push it away into the farthest corner of your mind.

The fact of the matter is that the human didn’t even get the story entirely right. Isaac was a troubled boy, but he wasn’t a monster. Not how I remembered him, anyhow.

It’s just that the worst of life crept up to him, and he let it snatch his soul, like this…

……………………………………………

……………………………………………

The person who was my friend was somebody named Isaac. He was a sweet boy who liked playing games and imagining. His father was an alcoholic, his mother used to beat and insult him, but he was as happy as ever. Kids used to be a lot more tolerant of pain back in the day, you know. They didn’t used to whine like nowadays.

What? Why are you looking at me like that? I haven’t even gotten to the worst part, the part where Isaac acts like a little whippersnapper! You see, I used to perform spectacular feats of magic for him and he would applaud for me. He spoke to me like I was his friend and so, I believed him.

But it was silly of me to do so, because when we were playing a game of pirates outside one day, a stray cat had come our way and Isaac wanted me to “make the enemy walk out the plank”. So, being the good friend that I was, I extended my arm as far as I could and squeezed the cat hard. Apparently it was too hard because the cat popped up with blood from my touch, but Isaac just laughed!

That’s right, he laughed!

Hello, a wild Mac has stumbled upon your fanfic and will review it.

Firstly omg this concept is hilarious 😂. The idea of Jack having to deal with the kids these days and them just not giving a shit about him anymore is hilarious it reminds of of that one Halloween episode from The Amazing World of Gumball idk if you know what I’m talking about.

Also I like how you change the the way to talk to make it more accurate to Laughing Jack cause I feel like with a lot of fanfics people often forget to change up the writing to make it more in character.

But I feel like you could go farther with it because I feel like he sounds a bit too normie. I haven’t really been into Laughing Jack since I was little (now I’m starting to think I’m part of the problem lol sorry Jack) so I’m not an expert on his character but I feel that yeah he talks about murder and stuff but I feel like you should make the way he talks more degraded and him go on and on about violent topics while he rants instead of just having him say he likes murder do some show don’t tell.

Also I feel like Laughing Jack wouldn’t be aware of popular media so I feel like he would have no idea who Pennywise even is so it would just make it even more funny if he was just like “the children keep calling me “Pennywise” what even is these Pennywise creature?” Or something like that it would just make it more in character and even funnier.

Over all I think you could make Laughing Jack sound more crazy and less like a normal boomer rant but other than that I think this was super funny and a really interesting idea that also makes sense since kids are a lot more different these days.

Thx for reading/advice! I’m glad you liked it lol.
