*This fanfic is underneath my folder titled “Creepypasta stuff”. Gacha Club character designs are under this forum: https://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=116005&start=1095. The characters in this story are Ben Drowned (created by Jadusable) and Lost Silver (creator unknown), but in my AU, they were fifteen years old in 2005 before they became video game Creepypastas. Lost Silver’s human name is Kyle in my AU. Yes, I ship them together. After this, I’ll post this same fanfic but in Ben’s POV and then, the real unsavory stuff will happen. So I hope you enjoy this!*
Kyle spun his Pokeball fidget spinner as he listened to Ben talk about his day, taking in every detail of what he was saying. Ben was only talking about mundane stuff and Kyle wasn’t even looking at him, but he was listening to Ben’s words intently as he spun his fidget spinner. Even though he didn’t feel comfortable looking people in the eyes, he still didn’t want to ignore any of Ben’s words, because for some reason he couldn’t explain, Ben’s attention felt important to him.
“Benjamin Lawmen and Kyle Brown, have you two even started on your vases yet? Or have you spent the last hours talking to one another?” Mr. Jones asked, his tone laced with annoyance that all adults seemed to have when talking to them.
Kyle blinked, pulled back into the reality of spiraling school work and smug adults. Once he looked up from the fidget spinner, he was met with Ben’s striking Sonic-blue eyes, filled with shock over hearing the teacher’s words. It wasn’t a look that Ben normally wore and open seeing it, the look alarmed Kyle a little bit.
But that look quickly went away and was replaced with irritation, Ben turning his head slightly and yelling back from across the room:
“We’re getting to it, Mr. Jones!”
Mr. Jones had a look in his eyes that suggested he thought otherwise, but Ben only rolled his eyes and smiled goofily at Kyle, as though he were somehow trying to lighten the blow.
Yes, they were in art class. Yes, they were supposed to be making vases that looked as though they were from the 19th century.
But adults always acted like the both of them were incompetent just because they weren’t as “smart” and “honorary” as other kids, just because they talked to each other and didn’t give a crap about what school did. Just because they didn’t like doing schoolwork didn’t mean that they didn’t have any knowledge and frankly, Kyle was becoming sick and tired of it. He wished-
“Do you want to work together? On the whole vase thing?” Ben asked, laying his arms on the table and resting his head on it. He looked up at Kyle lazily, his eyelids only half-closed over his glittering blue eyes. His long, blond hair spilled out all around him, just silk threads tied up over another and another and another until it was something that could be caressed and held and-
A quick look at the clock told Kyle that it was 3:15. School started at 8:00 and ended at 3:36. Ben was tired, he wanted to get the day over with. Goodness, how Kyle wanted to do the same thing. How he didn’t want to make an overcomplicated art project that would serve no help in his future and would simply be a waste of his time, how he just wanted to go home and play video games.
But the project would be a lot more endurable if he could complete it with Ben.
“Sure thing.” Kyle beamed, a little bit of happiness crawling through him.
A small tingle skittered up Kyle’s spine as Ben smiled at him, his blue eyes somehow sparking up with more life, just like the TV screen in his room when it was loaded with a new video game, when it flashed with colliding colors and drowned out the blank, black, dismal void that it was in before.
Perhaps he was just excited to have a friend help him out with the tedious art project, but seriously, Ben had a really nice smile.
It was really, really nice to look at.

Yay, more romance!!
I love how small the scene is on the surface, but Kyle’s inner world makes it feel huge!! The way he listens to Ben without looking at him is such a good character detail. It shows care in a quiet, specific way, and I love that the intimacy here is not loud or dramatic. It’s just Kyle paying attention because Ben’s attention matters to him, even if he doesn’t fully understand why yet.
Likewise, the crush energy is SO sweet and believable!! Kyle keeps trying to explain his reactions in ordinary terms, like Ben being tired or just wanting help with the project, but the prose keeps betraying him. His focus on Ben’s eyes, his hair, his smile, the way happiness “crawls” through him, etc. all has that very early, uncertain feeling of liking someone before you have the language for it ~~ It’s awkward and soft in the best way!!
Ooh, I really like the classroom frustration!! It gives the scene this relatable school-day texture, especially as they seem on the younger side ~~ I'm not sure their age range, actually?? But the boys feeling underestimated by adults adds a nice emotional layer, because Ben becomes not just someone Kyle likes, but someone who feels like he understands him. That makes the connection feel stronger than just the fact he has pretty eyes, though that does make sense, too!!
My main thought is that some of the descriptions get a little long?? The image of Ben’s hair as silk threads is very pretty, but the sentence stretches for a while, so you could maybe trim it to keep the softness without losing the momentum. Same with the TV/video game comparison... I actually love that metaphor because it feels very Kyle, but it might hit even harder if you leaned into it!!
This is such a sweet little character moment though!! It captures that quiet, confusing beginning of affection, and I found it really soft!! ^_^

Aww I%u2019m glad you liked it! They%u2019re both 15 btw.
Let’s see if I can find the plot again. The reviewing plot that is. It’s important for Project Violet Victory!

Okay I find this first paragraph really hard to read. Not only does the repetition of “fidget spinner” kinda jump out, it’s also… kinda repetitive anyway. Like how often can you say that he listens to Ben in so many different ways?
This kinda sounds like teenage projection here: “because they weren’t as “smart” and “honorary” as other kids,” they are literally not doing their classwork, no wonder the teachers react negatively XD
Aww I like that Ben at least wants to get this done and that it sparks a friendship moment :3 Maybe even a romance moment (tho I care abt that part a lot less XD) Good way to end this snippet.
