Back to school…Kyle?

*This Creepypasta fanfic is underneath my folder titled “Creepypasta stuff”. Other fanfics that connect to this one is linked in my comment. This is a ship between the Creepypasta characters, Ben Drowned (created by Jadusable) and Lost Silver (creator unknown). This is an AU where they are both alive, fifteen years old ,and it’s 2005. The human name I have given Lost Silver is Kyle. They’ll both die and become scary video game-based Creepypastas soon, just not now. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs<33[2]”. “Majora’s Mask” is a Legend of Zelda video game, for those who do not know. Now… Enjoy!*

The stretch of summer had passed. Ben had not run into Kyle again during that time period, much to his dismay, but at least he had fun playing Majora’s Mask. It probably would have been more fun playing with Kyle, but seeing Kyle again was too good to be true, anyway. That was just his luck.

The new school year had begun. Ben’s sophomore year at high school had started. He was in the lunchroom with all of the other kids in his grade, waiting in line to get his schedule. He wished that the school gave out schedules sometime in the summer, but such was not the case.

Just like last year, he knew absolutely nobody waiting in line with him. His parents would foolishly tell him that he’d make new friends in an attempt to cheer him up, but anytime Ben opened his mouth, people walked away.

So he stood in line, hands in his jean pockets, waiting for his schedule…

Who was that? Standing just ahead of him, head down on his gameboy? He wore a white baseball cap above his curly black hair…was it really…Kyle?!

Ben got out of the line and walked until he was a bit closer to the boy, but not too close.

Yes, yes. It was none other than Kyle himself, waiting in line to get a schedule.

Ben’s heart raced with joy as he thought about his first interaction with him, how Kyle seemed so nice, how-

It was only one interaction. Does Kyle even remember me? Does it matter? Should I talk to him? Will he be annoyed?

Ben pushed down his thoughts and approached Kyle, hoping that the boy would at least recognize who he was.

“Kyle?” Ben asked, a part of him wanting to leap out of his own body and run as far as he could.

Kyle looked up, his insanely blue eyes meeting Ben’s own, and then, his previously apathetic face breaking out into a small smile that seemed to bring out the pimples on his face even more in a way that made them look like sunshine kisses.

“I didn’t know you went here. How are you?” Kyle asked softly.

Ben couldn’t believe it! Kyle remembered him! Kyle smiled at him! Kyle was asking how his summer was! Kyle wasn’t mad at him!

“My summer was good. I spent a lot of time playing video games. My parents got upset with me about it, but other than that, it was good. You?” Ben asked, hoping that Kyle had the best summer that he so rightfully deserved.

Kyle chuckled and said:

“Same here. Great summer, irritating parents. It’s honestly so weird how parents get pressed over video games. Like, it’s not “melting our brains” or anything. It’s just fun! “

“Yeah, I get that. They try to make us feel bad for having fun when it’s not something that they used to do as kids, because they think that what they do is right because they did it.” Ben said.

Ben felt his good spirits lift when he saw Kyle nod in agreement at his words, his fluffy black curls flopping up and down. Not only did Kyle seem to enjoy his company, but they were having a meaningful conversation! Ben wasn’t bothering him!

“You can stand next to me if you want. I’ll show you how to play on my gameboy.” Kyle offered, his blue eyes lit up.

Kyle wanted Ben to be next to him?! He wanted to share his gameboy?! Goodness, Ben was getting to be unreasonably lucky!

“Sure thing.” Ben said, trying to play it cool.

He then joined Kyle on the line and tried his very best to pay attention to what Kyle was telling him about playing the game, but his hair was so fluffy, his eyes were so bright, his pimples somehow looked pretty, his voice sounded so calming, that Ben found himself just nodding and saying “yes” like he understood, then he went and tried his best on the Gameboy.

It was the first time he didn’t even care about winning a video game. Ben was just glad to be standing next to Kyle, playing on Kyle’s Gameboy.

Maybe they’d have the same class and would be able to get to know each other more.

Hello Again, My Friend!

Returning for the next short story, I am here with another review!

AW, these two are just too cute together! It's great to see how Ben and Kyle reconnected after their first brief meeting, and how they both get along so well. And Kyle even let ben play on the gameboy!! If that isn't a sign of true nerdy-gamer love, I don't know wasn't isn't XD

*ahem* As far as recommendations go, I got nothing for this one!

Now, for favorite parts on the other hand, I would go with:

It was only one interaction. Does Kyle even remember me? Does it matter? Should I talk to him? Will he be annoyed?

These moments of thought from Ben keep catching my attention as I follow this greater storyline, where he keeps second-guessing himself and wondering if Kyle will be annoyed by him. I mean, to be fair, definitely a relatable feeling especially for the socially-awkward (lol). But at the same time, it makes me feel bad for Ben, that he thinks so little of himself. Even when he's just trying to say hi!

“Yeah, I get that. They try to make us feel bad for having fun when it’s not something that they used to do as kids, because they think that what they do is right because they did it.” Ben said.

^ This just about sums up the gaming culture of the '90s and early 2000s, in a nutshell XDD

“You can stand next to me if you want. I’ll show you how to play on my gameboy.” Kyle offered, his blue eyes lit up.

Kyle wanted Ben to be next to him?! He wanted to share his gameboy?! Goodness, Ben was getting to be unreasonably lucky!

As mentioned, love the Gameboy being a sign of friendship/acceptance here! so fitting.

All in all, another great one! Nicely done! :D

Thus concludes my review. To leave off, here are some inspiring quotes, courtesy of your resident Poe freak ~

"They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
"Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.”
"I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty."

Oh wow, this was such a soft, sweet piece of writing. It felt like standing in the back of that lunch line myself, awkward and full of nervous hope, waiting for something as small yet monumental as a familiar face to turn around and say, “Hey, I remember you.” The atmosphere here is so everyday, but in the best way—grounded in the smallest details that somehow feel huge when you're in high school. You’ve managed to turn a schedule line into a scene of emotional fireworks, and that’s bananas (yes, I'm serious—it’s that good and that emotionally ripe 🍌).

Ben’s inner monologue is beautifully done. He feels like someone I knew (or was) in high school. You really capture the anxious shuffle of teenage thoughts: Will he remember me? Should I say something? Am I being weird? That whole spiral of self-doubt that somehow still ends in courage felt authentic and well-earned. And then when Kyle looks up and smiles? Genuinely heart-flipping moment. His “sunshine-kissed pimples”? Adorable. Bananas. Who describes pimples in a way that makes them sound like a blessing from the sky?! Genius.

The dialogue between them is so real and natural. I love how they click over something as simple as video games and frustrating parents. The way Ben notices the little things—Kyle's curls bouncing, the brightness of his eyes, his calming voice—it’s all written in a way that feels warm and deeply relatable. It’s not over-the-top or sappy, it’s just honest. That part where Ben barely pays attention to the game because he's too mesmerized? Bingo. That hit me. We’ve all been there at least once, swept up in someone’s presence more than anything else happening.

There’s also something really lovely and gentle about how Ben’s feelings unfold. You don’t force them into a big confession or dramatic moment—you let the affection simmer in the quiet, in the soft spots of everyday life. That restraint makes the connection feel all the more real and emotionally resonant.

The story’s tone balances dreamy admiration with grounded, slightly awkward teenage realism, which is hard to do well—but you nailed it. I only wish the story went on longer so I could see if they do end up in the same class, or where this quiet spark between them goes next.

In short, this was beautifully written, emotionally rich, and delightfully bananas in the best possible way. I’d happily read an entire novel of these two. If you ever expand this story, please toss it my way—I’ll be in the front row, rooting for Ben and Kyle like my life depends on it. 🍌💛

So glad you enjoyed! You can look at my comment on this story, it has links to other fanfics that connect to this!

I will definitely read them. Keep up your good work!!!
