My lover

In poem

I run my fingers down her spine,

Feeling each and every notch.

Her tan skin so soft under the roughness of my hands.

Her body is littered with tattoos;

Passages written across the canvas which is her skin.

Marks too, birth marks maybe,

Maybe scars.

I bring my face to her and smell her,

Engulf her scent.

I feel safe.

.

She tells me things.

Whispers me secrets of kings and unknown countries,

Of mystical beasts and spins tales of unrequited love.

Each word hooks itself to my memory.

.

I know others have heard her tales,

As will many more.

But in this moment she is mine.

The light dancing on her pale skin.

And all these sweet nothings.

I am just another man to hold her tight this evening.

Soon the tale will be finished.

Juliet has stabbed herself.

The wicked witch is dead.

The ring was destroyed.

All was well.

.

I walk her home.

Hold her tight in my hand;

Reluctant to let our time together end.

After we part I stare at her house a while.

The word library emblazoned across the front.

I walk away with another love in hand,

With the knowledge that soon someone else will have her.

OMG!
I read this and... wow.
I'm so blown away by this. At first I was thinking "Wait, he's not into girls, so...?"
And then I got to the end, where it mentions the library. And it clicked and I looked back and it suddenly made sense.

Her spine... the tattooos.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was perfect. Officially my now favorite poem.

XOXO,
Gravity

You know, I was extremely surprised by this piece. The surprise was, I didn't particularly enjoy it quite as much as the other reviewers. But the thing is, I don't know why! All your spelling was correct, (as far as I saw,) the intrigue was there, your wordplay was well delivered. Really, there is nothing wrong with this piece. I guess it just didn't quite capture my attention as poems usually do. Do not take this as a bad review. Your poem was phenomenal. I guess there will simply always be people who love things and people who don't. Great work! Hopefully, I will find myself mesmerized by your future works.

Oh my gosh! I take back what I said! I had a feeling there was a plot twist somewhere in here, but I didn't understand it until I read the review of someone else! I realize now that the reason I didn't find myself blown away by this poem, was that I didn't really understand it. Now that I do, I must say, this was masterfully written! Keep up the great work!

First of all- this is awesome! Very well written and excellent use of metaphors. Just love the references to Harry potter and lord of the rings. Secondly, love the layers to the peon, works great with it. Keep on writing, don't stop.

Fantastically written! The descriptions and metephors were all very unique and had a lot of orginality.

"Juliet has stabbed herself.

The wicked witch is dead.

The ring was destroyed.

All was well."
I feel that I don't understand this part of the poem. It seems like a metaphor or a representation of something but it seems somewhat irrelevant. Probably because it's unclear to me though.
Then I would like to tell you on a positive note the beginning hooked me in for some reason.
Anyways, awesome job!

Hey! It's reference to four endings of texts. The line before talking about the tale ending, followed then by four endings. Romeo and Juliet, Dorothy in oz, the Lord of the rings and Harry potter :)

WOW!
What can I say? I am absolutely smitten with this poem.
First of all, the imagery in the first stanza is beautiful and alluring. It really draws in your readers and leaves some of the more sensual ones (like me, hehe) wanting even more details.

I love your pop culture references to Romeo & Juliet, the Wizard of Oz & LOTR. They fit in just right - not tacky or overbearing.

The plot twist at the end is amazing, and when you look back on the poem, you can see how it's interweaved into the first stanza ("Spine", "passages", etc.).

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with your writing and will be checking out the rest of your portfolio! :D

Lol, I absolutely loved this poem. I will deem this as one of my favorites. LOVE IT. Now, what do I love about the poem. It’s the fact that at first it is as though you are talking about a girl. The love of his life. How he caresses her and wants to love her. Then describing the kinds of things that has happened. But in fact you are actually talking loving books and everything that they provide for us. Things that people that do not read, do not know about. The love for books. Something I have. ~keep writing.

Hi everyone who clicks on my profile!...Um, not quite sure what else to do here. Yup, definitely new at this! XD
