My Mistake

In poetry

This is a poem for you

you know who you are

I can't reach out, you've blocked me

that's left a bleeding scar.

If you ever want to reunite

I'm here with open arms

I wish that we didn't fight

I caused you so much harm.

Please try to reach out

I wish we could be friends

I am full of past regrets

this torment never ends.

I've tried to heal and understand

forced to move along

but you stole a piece of my heart

now forever gone

Hi!

I crossed your poem and it looked interesting. And it was! This poem illustrated regret and making a mistake the narrator wished they could take back.

My overall favorite line was "If you ever want to reunite/I'm here with open arms." It was so sincere and genuine.

Please keep writing, I look forward to seeing more poems by you! Tag me in some of your future ones!

Signed,

Pineapple

I'm curious about why you chose to punctuate the way you did, with periods every four lines. It's also interesting to me that the last line doesn't have punctuation. I like how the last three lines aren't capitalized, as well. I also like the rhyming.
The subject matter resonates with me because I can relate to not being able to reach out to someone.

Chancing a review.

At 1 am so I hope it makes sense.

Your rhyme and meter were so beautiful they destroyed me, but only in the best way and your words fit together like fresh puzzlepeices. You are so articulate <3. And what you had to say was beatiful and it made perfect sense. This seems to be a simple poem that says what it means directly, and it doesn't need to be complicated because it does a wonderful job. I cant find anything wrong with the poem, but for whatever reason the second rhyme hits harder seemingly in every couplet. My favorite lines are "it left a bleeding scar" and "now forever gone" I guess they hit hardest. Thank you for this wonderful peice!
keep writing!

Much love, Gem

Oh wow. This piece is so sad, and I can completely relate to everything you’re writing about. I can feel the speaker’s sorrow and regret coming through the computer screen. There is so much tension in this poem, with the past friendship and the current estrangement contrasting with each other. And I really loved your use of rhythm and rhyme. It added such a lyrical, soulful effect to the poem, and made it really flow really well. I could read this poem again and again, because it’s so simple, but yet so impactful.

The one suggestion I would have is to be more specific. I, as a reader, want to know more. What did the speaker do that was so bad? If you can’t tell me that, could you describe the fallout? What happened immediately after? How did the friend react? What was their relationship like before? Can you describe some happy memories the speaker has of their friend, and then describe some lonely ones, too, spent missing that friend? Has the speaker tried to move on? Has it worked? I also think some figurative language and metaphors would be really powerful here. What does the speaker’s pain feel like? Getting swept up in the ocean? Walking on hot sand? Staying at home for a week with the flu? All these descriptions would help the reader know what it’s like to be in the mind of the speaker, so the poem, and the emotions become all that more impactful.

Overall, amazing poem! It is so honest, and brutal, but at the same time so beautiful. Poetry can be a powerful tool of healing, and writing about your feelings can get you through almost anything.

I look forward to reading more of your poems!

This poem really reminded me when I broke up with an ex. The pain that came after, before and during the breakup we're all different but one was the same, that i was gonna lose someone important to me. The feeling of wanting to reunite with them was still a choice before but then after I really grew to become a better person and this poem just made me smile. It was devastating to experience heartbreak but it was overall a very experience everyone goes through. I really liked this poem, thank you for this. Much love~<3!!!
