Flower Petals

Flower petals don’t last forever,
But you can save them in your memories,
You can press them,
But they’re not the same,
The good thing about flower petals,
They always come back,
Fresh and new.

Friends last forever,
You can save them in your memories,
But they’re not here,
It’s not the same,
The good thing about friends,
They always come back,
Same as you remember them,
Because they’re here for you,
Always.

Flower Petals and Friends have a lot in common,
Eventually-they leave,
But they are always with you,
They are loving and unique,
One-of-a-kind and enjoyable,
But no matter how long they are gone,
You always have the memories,
And that is bliss in itself.

When it’s time for them to leave,
You can know that you always have the memories,
Of the times that you hold dear,
Even though flower petals don’t last forever,
Frindships do last,
And that is what matters most.

Its quite hard to believe that this is written by a thirteen year old. This peice of poetry seems so mature I would be looking forward for more work of yours. The contrast between flower petels and friendship intrests me. good friends are hard to find and if you did. Well, good for you.
It would be nice if you could add some rhyme in that poem of yours. The way you have used metaphors, it tells how much you put your heart into writing. The poem itself is inspiring.

Haha I think I was younger than 13 ! It's been years though so I don't know

I really like the symbolism. I've never thought of flowers and friends that way. It's a really easy to read poem, and the ending is the perfect ending with "friendships do last."
You repeat a lot of words in here, I might vary my word choice, but this whole thing was a very nice poem and I would feel very special if my friend gave it to me.
I like the tone too, the light-hearted nostalgia
There are a bunch of commas. I think maybe you should end the sentence every now and then, but it didn't really detract from the piece.

Each stanza is one sentence , it's a form of formatting.I ued the repetition to make up for the lack of rhyming words caue usually I use rhyming words and I was on thin ice with this free verse buisness. And thanks Fortis. You should comment on my poem "Lot in Love" I wrote it about this kid ... XD

awww... how cute! hehe

Very sweet poem :). I liked how you compared something tangible
And something that you can only feel in your heart. I found it to be a very good poem and it was very very sweet. I liked it alot. I can't believe that you wrote this a year and half ago ;)

Hey Speakerskat!

Oh yeah! You commented on my poem,''Embers of Emotions" :)

I loved your poem!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :) I thought I was the only person who held best at such a high value...well, I mean, like , thinking of them after they leave and things like that....

The way you used flowers to describe feeling-very cool..
I have a hard time writing really cheerful things, but your poem shows that it doesn't have to be all butterflies, flowers, and pure cheerfulness, but it can have a happy, meaningful, thought and can still not be like,''Oh my gosh! Every thing is amazing!!!And everything is sooo fun!!!How about I write a really long poem about it?!''

So awesome job!!!!!!!!;) Thanks for commenting on my poem!!!!! ;) <3<3<3-Neonmask

Like everyone else who commented, the first word that came to my mind when i read it was "sweet". I love how you compared flowers to friendship, as opposed to love.. i think love and flowers are compared much too often so it was so refreshing to see your different outlook on them(:
Nice job and keep writing! -Heather

Hi, Speakerskat ^-^ thanks for the awesome review on "Delusion", it really means a lot. Anyhoo, I thought I'd check out some of your work over the next few days in return c: So here goesss~
Firstly, I thought it was so sweet to associate the bonds of friendship with flowers. And as far as this line goes "they are loving and unique", I don't have a real problem with it. It appears as "metaphorical poetry" or "figurative". For instance the writing: "love is a rose" is a good example. You think, "how is love a rose?" O.o "Literally", that's an untrue statement to make. But metaphorically, figuratively, it can be perfectly valid for a piece of poetry. Though it is a bit difficult to interpret anything figurative in the line "they are loving and unique", I suppose it can be done, especially by those of us with a more . . . "poetic spirit" about us.
Anyhoo, I think this is a beautiful, friendly piece. You said most of your poems turn out childish-sounding (while reviewing "Delusion") I want to point out that it's not childishness that you're seeing. It isn't dramatic, romantic or intense, but it isn't supposed to be. The atmosphere of your work, from what I've read, is SUPPOSED to sound charming, heart-warming, sweet and friendly. This is the style of the poem. You clearly have a personal and unique way of writing that's just your own. You shouldn't worry about the way other people write to such an intense degree, but try to improve your own personal technique and styles. But that being said: read other peoples work--whether published or not--and see the mistake they make, and the good things they do, so you'll gain experience in the writing game. Whereas you don't want to copy other peoples writing, you can learn from their style. It'll help shape your own.
Anyhoo! sorry for gambling. I wanted to say a few more things and clear up some of what I said just now, but it's starting to thunder and lightning here, so I gotta turn the computer off lol
With some editing and polishing, this piece seems like the type of poem to be printed on birthday cards haha ^-^ (And keep in mind that you're sooo young, and this piece would be wonderful for a 12th grader to write lol) You're only getting better. Keep writing, and post more ^-^

(pardon any typos) Catnip~

Thanks I'm speechless!

It is a universally relate-able poem. You did a great job. Considering your age, this is a very fine piece of work. I don't know much about free verse. So, everything is well for me in the poem. I can't find any mistakes to point out. That's a good indication for you. The diction of the poem is nice and it flows really good. I am looking forward to read more from your side. And hey! Check out my works too. I'll be grateful

Sure, if I catch any of your work I will definatley check it out

I thought that this was a very sweet poem to write for your friend. Comparing friendship with flower petals gave it a nostalgic sense that makes one sigh out their troubles.

They are loving and unique,
I was wondering here how flower petals are loving, probably just me thinking too much into it. There were also some points in your piece where I had to stop and think about what exactly you were saying. That kind of stopped the wonderful flow of you poem. I guess that's a lot to ask, making something clear without using many words, but I'm sure you do that all the time. Let me just say one more time, I really liked this poem, very sweet.

Thanks, people usually say I am to verbose XD ( read my work wooden spears and you will see what I mean). I get your point, but my writing usually does that so people can use their imagination though on this one... I may have gone a little overboard. And thanks, I wish he hadn't moved.

I don't do time.
