In poetry

I lay in my bed

Overwhelmed with emotions

Music blaring in my headphones

Wondering why you left.

-

I reach out in anyway I can

Facebook, texting, snapchat

I'm met with the same silence

This can't be happening,

Not again.

-

My mind races back and forth,

Memories and hopes flood

As tears falling freely

Marring my once happy complexion.

-

I don't know why you left

Or when you will come back

But until that day I'll be here

Eating away at everything I am

Remembering everything we were.

King here

Hello there!

Your work is really good and it expressed true feeling about a real-life situation and current emotions of the narrator. I usually do not like each line starting with capitals but I do not think of editing it here because for this work, it sounds and looks right, better than with all the punctuation and other things I could find as an issue here.

I have read the work several times to try to understand it to its fullest. Who knows if I get the meaning 100% right but I think of it as a sad story about your current life style and how you are alone, hopeless, feeling that no one wants you by their side and you are left all alone by the ones you cherish so much. It may be pointing towards one person who is ignoring you but I think it is about everyone surrounding you who does not give you the attention you deserve at the moment. Overall, I find this work very sad and emotional, having nothing to actually complain about in its way of showing your emotions.

I only have one or two things I want to mention before ending this review. Hope it helps.

Eating away at everything I am

I really do not understand why you have used 'eating away' is such a way. What are you actually eating away? It may be me only but I do not think the line makes any kind of sense.

Have a good day!

Hi speakerskat,
You got my attention pretty well. As a whole your work might be lacking something named flawless. Of course, don't you it take is a sheer criticism, rather take it as the call of expectation from a thoughtful writer like you.
Regarding the flow of the lines, it appeared more or less a little scattered in the symphony. Reading aloud the lines yourself just after u've finished it might be handy in the process.
Keep up
D

Pardon my butting in. I'll be finishing this review in a jiffy. It's actually kind of funny, actually; I actually found myself in the same situation as the speaker in the story a few weeks ago. Before I continue with my review of this piece, which I understand is based on your current real-life situation, I'll tell you the same thing I told myself back then: The facts are the facts, but in this type of situation, whether or not it's your loss or theirs is entirely yours.

Preaching aside, let's begin with the aforementioned review. The rules are simple: First I give you the good news, then I'll follow up with the bad ones, and I'll finish off with an overall conclusion. Understood? Great, let's get to it.

This poem denotes a very understandable situation, and I'm not just saying that because I've just gone through it. Time can strain the toughest of friendships, especially considering that both parties possess the same amount of free will and the right to live their own lives with or without the need of the other. I'm sidetracking again...

You based this poem on a real event that took place in your life. As a result, I expected it to be very powerful and very emotional. Even though this poem is only composed of four stanzas, it's very condensed with pent-up feelings and a burning desire to see your friend back inside your life. What I found really interesting though, was the single line that reads "Not again." Makes me wonder: does this person have a habit of treating you like this?

Regardless, you must have still been in great distress at the time of posting this poem on here, and your emotions have been reflected in the writing style shown here. As you close into the most emotional lines of the piece, the flow of the poem starts to waver. One example I found was the transition between these two lines

"My mind races back and forth,

Memories and hopes flood"

I think this line would go through a little smoother if you added an "as" at the beginning of the second line.

I'm really glad you've taken the time and gone through the trouble of channeling your emotions through written text. Trust me, there are countless amounts of worse ways to deal with this. I hope you can solve this issue in one way or another, and I wish you the best of luck in your attempts to fix it... and I'll add that I wish you the best of luck in your future writing endeavors, as well. I'll hopefully see you around.

Gummy~

Hello Speakerskat!

This is a nice poem, but I do have a few things to point out.

But until that day I'll be here

Eating away at everything I am

Remembering everything we were.

This middle line doesn't make much sense to me- it says "I'll be here eating away at everything I am". So... The narrator will be eating away at his or her self? I feel like it would be guilt eating away at him or her, or sorrow. Some emotion or the memories, because I don't think it's the narrator intentionally eating away at his or her self. Does that make sense?

I reach out in anyway I can

Facebook, texting, snapchat

First of all, here, I think you want a space between any and way. Second, I notice that all the ways the narrator can reach out are only three, and they are all through social media. I don't know if you mean this to make a point about the world we live in today- in which case, good for you, and maybe you could make it a bit more prominent- but if not, could you not say something like an attempted phone call that the other person never answers, or perhaps seeing each other in school or somewhere else and just being ignored? I just think that might better cover "any way I can" than just three sources that aren't even face to face. It's totally your choice though, as I don't know what your original intentions were.

Anyway, I love the emotions you put into this piece. You could put a little more imagery in it, but what's there is good. Keep up the good writing!

Hi speakerskat,

What an intense poem this is! I like that it's really expressive, and I absolutely love the simplicity here. I also like the suggestive connection between this piece's heading and the following verses. They compliment perfectly. The ending was also epic, I loved the last two lines. All that being said, I hope you weren't truly left. But if you are, way to go channeling all your emotions into a lovely piece of literary work.

Keep up the good work!

I was, my best friend left only a few days after my birthday. But thank you

I was weeping as much for him as her; we do sometimes pity creatures that have none of the feeling either for themselves or others.
