The Black Rose

In Poetry

I am shielded by darkness:
growing upon the fears
The worries
From all the taunting memories

I am deeply shallow
Truly ungrateful
I live upon the rage
Of myself
Of others

I linger in the dusky vicinities
As my blossom grows thick with rage
A my stem grows tall with envy
As my leaves spread to the edge
As my thorns grow sharp
And pierce others' hands
While I, in the end, bleed
Crimson blood

Drripping from my finger tips
Sliding down my palm
Cascading down my forearm
I watch with a still gaze

I am alone
Cold
Helpless
Depressed
Defenseless
Unknown

I am potrayed as a black rose
Black floods into my soul
Soon Death will come to stay

A black rose isn't my enemy:
It is my soul

Oh, the words aren't that old-fashioned. :P

"I love upo the rage"

What does "upo" mean?

"And pierce other's hands"

It should be others'. This is because you're talking about multiple people instead of just one. Don't ask...

Unless, of course, you want to use your poetic license to sidesweep nasty stuff like grammar, lol! ;)

It seems like you used a few words that have... well, gone out ogf style, and it seems you might find a few of them in some really old stuff from the 1600's. Words like that? 400 years late! We live in the 21st century, and we should talk that way :p

I must say I agree with Roland and what he said, but besides that, I did have a few suggestions...

I am shielded by darkness
I grow upon the fears

I didn't like how the first two lines of the poem both started with I, so I would suggest just saying 'grow upon the fears' or 'growing upon the fears' to make it look less repetitive.

As my blossom grows thicker with rage
A my stem grows taller with envy
As my leaves spread to the edge
As my thorns grow sharper

Here I would suggest saying 'as my blossom grows thick with rage' rather than 'thicker' because it sounds more... natural and flowing in my opinion. I would suggest doing the same with 'taller' and 'sharper'

Black is all I like
Death is all I see

I see what you are saying here and I do like it, but I think you should express it in a more interesting way. Like, for the first one, saying 'black floods my heart' catches my attention more than 'black is all I like'. I would suggest working with those two lines.

Please keep writing

This poem seems kind of neurotic and just scratching at the surface of a feeling. Go into more depth. What is the darkness? Where do the worries and fears come from? I like the disjointed, jumpy style of it. It has a sense of unsureness, lostness about it but you need to give more detail! Give us more description in the imagery.

That's just what translation is, I think. That's all speaking is. Listening to the other and trying to see past your own biases to glimpse what they're trying to say. Showing yourself to the world, and hoping someone else understands.
