Beauty

In Poetry

What is vanity among people?
Over and over again it's beauty
Beauty in the people

O, but what is beauty?
Is it in the eye of the beholder?
Or maybe in the eyes of the beautiful?

Vanity and selfishness
Physical beauty, your partner
Look at lovely things to have lovely eyes
Drink beautiful things to have beautiful lips

Is beauty what is on the inside?
The kindness expressed to people
The joy recieved where nobody else may find it?
In a child's face, in a morning's dew?

What is beauty?

I didn't want to rant or anything so I just stopped there... any suggestions? *Works on novel. By age 18 intends to complete it :P*

Some pretty ideas, but like scintillation said, I thought there was something missing. Maybe you could include some of your own perspecives on what beauty is instead of just questioning it.

Overall, I like this. It's quite, oh how shall i put it, deep but i also think something is missing. I'm not quite sure what it is yet, though...(ponders for a minute or two)

Also (i may be completely and utterly wrong here), in the last line of the fourth stanza, is

'In a child face...'

supposed to be

'In a child's face...' ?

Very good second stanza by the way. [/i]

I was trying to say that people who bask in their own beauty are usually vain and now that i think about it it doesn't make sense to me either... *ponders*

The third verse didn't make sense to me. Otherwise, it was an interesting poem and I enjoyed it.

Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon.
