I Am From...

In Poetry

At the begining of English PRE AP 7 this year everybody had to write theirs... I don't like mine, but here it is anyway, I hope you can help me with it...
I am From

I am from a Neverland
I didn’t want to grow up.
I was age 5, careless and free,
To age 13, careful and seemingly condemned, in a heartbeat
I feel my personalities are like sweet and sour.
They are complete opposites of my ages.

I am from a butter yellow living room.
Big screen television, but not too big.
A comfy leather sofa that can recline,
But, to tell you the ultimate truth,
Princesses deserve to be treated like this,
I am no princess.

I am from a bleak and eerily lit computer desk
A metal chair with a leather interior is where I sit.
There is a moldy city
Growing steadily on the hard drive.
I can’t help but feel like I’m in the lab
Of Jackal and Hyde.

I am from a posh Jr. High.
I do not mind. All the people are nice to me.
Especially the teachers
Which is somewhat freighting,
In the student's eye
The students’ talk to me: not about.
Surprisingly, I am certain the teachers too
I feel like Alice in Wonderland,
After plunging into that world,
Incredibly confused in this maze.

I am from an abyss of emotions.
Joy I share with others after being treated
The way I want to be in return.
Gloom for when the days seem to be still
And those memories once vanished return to haunt me.
Rage inside for those times that I recollect
Somebody pushed, shoved or hit me.
Envious for all those times my wishes never came true
But for another child theirs did.

I am from a reality and not a Neverland
I am from a hospitable home.
I am from a welcoming academic center
To the polite community inside
I am from an emotional abyss
Which is what has created who I am
This is where I’m from

This poem is a very good poem relating to your life and how you are treated. I would give it 5 thumbs up :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

HEY! I don't ever remember reading this in your Writer's Notebook! Anyway, I liked this one, the point you were trying to hammer into our minds was clear, and the whole thing, even how long it was over the assignment requirements, is a great piece of work. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: 4 thumbs up!

Whenever I have to write "I am" poems or "I am from" peoms, it completely bores me, anoys me, and turns me off to poetry.

But this one was surprisingly good. I actually liked it. It didn't sound like there was a guidline for every line and stanza. It didn't sound like there was a grading rubric to be followed.

But, I don't really think anyone can help you on a poem about where you're from. It's you're place. No one can have the same perspective on it that you can.

By the way, this is my 100th post. woot.
