Walking To My Death

In Poetry

I calmly walk to the arena

All humor gone

All elation gone

What's left is

Grim defiance.

Telling myself

You can win this

When I know I can't

Those screeching

Horrifying

Terrifying

Tales must be true.

Walking slowly

Grimly

Calmly

To my death.

Hewo, it is Jade once again reviewing an amazing poem.

I thought this poem was really good, and after reading it I kinda made this weird squealing sound? Then I got in trouble cause I'm not supposed to be on here before testing. Anyways, I really liked this and it kind of sounds like an excerpt from a book or story. Do you have any plans with this? That would be pretty cool.

Okay, so, back to reviewing. First off, when you say, "Those screeching, horrifying, terrifying tales must be true." What tales? Perhaps be a little more descriptive there. Also, when you say, "I calmly walk to the arena." I think it should be put, "I walk calmly to the arena." So it can flow smoother.

That's all I really have, this was good. Keep it up!

I'm guessing that this poem refers to the Gladiator arenas in Rome. Interesting choice of topic, but I like it!

So... is this a Hunger Games fanfiction? Or fanpoem if more appropriate, I guess. That's what I view it as, but I assume there's more than one death game in the world.

I find it amazing that the person in question is walking calmly to their death. Are they not going to fight?

I like the simpleness of this poem, so it's perfectly fine how it is. But if you wanted to expand on it, you could tell the reader about these horrifying, terrifying tales. I would certainly like to hear about them! What happens in these tales? Do humans kill, are their unimaginable monsters? What?

Overall, nice job.

Hey there, its me AnimeGirl here to give your poem a review.

Now lets jump/fly/ride a turtle in to this thing.

Your poem is really good, but I have a few things I wanted to comment on, so here we go.

Its a short poem, but to me maybe you could have made it a bit longer. Maybe with some more detail? I don't know its just my opinion on the length of it. Though, the description in the poem maybe could use the detail.

Another thing, now I just like poems like this, separate this into stanzas. I think it looks better, and I like to read poems like that.

Now over all I like your poem, its just some things here and their that I wanted to share my opinion on. And it is just my opinion, its your poem do what you like with it. It was easy to read and it was something I actually wanted to read to the end of, some things I don't read to the end before I get bored of them. So good job and keep writing.

~Keep writing and follow your dreams!

How ya doin Wisegirl. :)
Ossum here for an awesome review. Now let's see here... hmmm.... death... uh huh... more death.... mmm... oo defiance in the face of death.... deathly defying death... deadly death... and of course death. Well that pretty much sums up this one, let's call it a day.

Haha, just kidding just kidding. I actually quite liked it. Even though it was very vague, that vagueness gave off a very distinct image. And of course, it gave off a specific type of emotion. One that, we can imagine but not quite understand. Unless you are like me, and others who have walked in the shadows cast by death and stared it down. Warriors through and through.

And that is a simple reason why I liked this. It wasn't so much of the detail that caught me, rather the lack of it. Warriors are simple minded like that. We dont deal with anything else other than what is when it comes to death. And what is, is only to survive. Win. Thats all that matters at the point when you are about to die. Gotta keep cool use your head. And thats what this piece did, made you use your head while keeping a cool, calm pace that made you feel like you were actually there.

Now, for a critique. I liked it because I have been put in that situation. but others who havent, or have no experience, might like the piece... but not as much as you would want them to. If you were going to a general audience, add more detail, make the scene, bring it all to life while keeping the same tempos here. Then you'll have your audience. If you were talking just to us warriors... welp ya caught mine then. :)

Have a grrrrrrrreat day! :D
