Dreams

In Poetry

What's home?

Home isn't a place.

It isn't something with walls and a floor.

It's a place where you can dream and hope

and never give up.

The dreams pile so high they reach the ceiling--

but there is no ceiling.

The stack stretches to the clouds.

I imagine dreams like books.

One dream isn't just one page,

it's a book full of words and wishes.

Look in them and read them,

and you'll find tales better than Mark Twain could ever write.

Imaginary thoughts that could someday be real.

My dreams are big.

There's writing in, around, and beneath the margins.

It's full of words, page after page.

But when I flip through them they tell a story of a girl

who picks up pencils with careful hands

and touches their point to paper.

Sup, Lupa22! It's your girl, Caitlin! Comin' at you!
I love your poem, I took it as discribing a writer, but maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway, it is a poem that I won't be forgetting. I enjoy the words you used. To me, books, clouds, dreams, pencils, paper, page, etc, are comfoting words and make me happy.
Keep writing!
That is a wrap, peace out, fellow writers!

Heyy. I absolutely love this poem. You have great writing skills. It is eminent from the way you review and help other people. Your own writings are so perfect!
After reading his poem, I had this feeling of bliss and optimism. It is the biggest achievement for a poet to inspire others, and that is exactly what you did with this poem :)
Also, I really admire your knowledge of literary devices and your mastery over literature! I could make out from your poem how learned a writer you are. I hope to write so perfectly like this, someday :)

Great poem. I love the house symbolism. However, I would have loved to see it played out more throughout the poem. On the other hand, I love how you compare the dreams to a book as well. Both are great comparisons. Keep up the good work.

Fantasydragon01 in the house!!!!!!
First off you did a fantastic job. I personally love songs, and you really nailed it!
The whole thing is just so nice and sweet. I love it! It's kind of hard to put it in words. I just love it. I did not really see any errors. Nice job.
Good luck and keep writing!!!!!!!!!!

One review tip: make them less enthusiastic. Those exclamation marks were way too many. :D
Thx!

I really love this poem; it is very creative! My favorite part is the last three lines. :)

Hi,
First of all, I really like your poem. It makes home feel like more and more of a secured shelter where we are tend to be nurtured and cherished, to feel relaxed and to dream.

Especially about the poems , they can sometimes be quite vicious, well I don't want to sound rude so I won't name any. However, I'd surely mention that most of the poems here are more negative than positive. You feel more exposed to the ill side of the society and nature after going through them, than secured. So, thumbs up for a different concept here. I love it.

With all of that being said, I'd also like to mention that at some particular points, the poem do get a bit unappealing. The rhyme is I would say is not very appreciable at places.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your writing. Keep writing ! :)

Hey wisegirl! I haven't reviewed something of yours in forever! So, here we go!

I like this poem. Though, in the middle, there are a couple oxymorons that weren't particularly my favorite. As of,

but lands like feathers--
Dreams aren't feathers, though.

The dreams pile so high they reach the ceiling--
but there is no ceiling.

It tells the story very nice, but it just feels weird. Also, at the ending two lines, those needed to be tweaked a little. Like this.

and touches their point to paper,
just like an author.

Your lines also sound very different at just very weird together. Otherwise, I really like you poem! I just absolutely love the concept. There are more pessimistic poems on YWS than optimistic, so this was a nice change for me. And thank you for realizing that dreams are very important. Don't give up and always write, wisegirl22!

thx! You know, I have a friend of mine. She's a Percy Jackson fan too and loves writing fanfictions-just recently started one.
