Sadness

In Poetry

Sadness comes in many forms.

There's petty sadness--sadness when you have to clean your room, or do a difficult project.

Then there's hurt sadness, when you trip over a rock and fall and scrape your knee.

Finally, there's pure sadness.

Sadness when a family member dies, or when your best friend gets severely hurt.

That's the rarest kind,

but it's still there.

Often it feels like it'll never go away, but it does eventually.

Kind of like a wound,

but it cuts much deeper.

Past your skin, flesh, blood, and bones--

all the way to your heart.

It's the type that hurts the most.

Sadness comes in many forms:

Cuts,

scrapes,

and wounds

to the heart.

Hello!

I really love how you defined each kind of sadness in the beginning of the poem. It really gives the reader an idea of where you were going with the poem. Also, I really loved how you gave not only a definition of the different types of the sadness, they were true definitions that I think many people can relate to which is great!

I love how you described the most emotional type of sadness. Even if the reader is not sad, the poem really makes you feel the feeling the author is talking about which is very important with poetry because of how small poems can be. It's important to put a lot of feeling into it, and you did a fantastic job at it.

I would love to see a better title for the poem though. I don't think Sadness justifies how significant the poem is. This poem is so relate-able you might want a new title to capture more people's attention, but that is just my opinion.

Overall, this poem is so great! I love it, keep it up (:

Hi Felistia here with a short review.

I love this poem! The emotion in it is great and I really like that you described the different forms of sadness. The only nit-pick is that the poem doesn't flow very well. I think the lines are to long. That is the only problem though. My favourite part is the end. It ties the whole concept together really well. Well done and I hope to see more of your work. Have great day\night.

Dear Artemis28,

EccentricRose has dropped by and read your poem. :)

This poem is very realistic and you have a good thing going here. The only thing I found was that since it didn't have enough uniformity, it didn't flow as much as I think it has the potential to. Other than that, you did a great job! I can see what theme you are trying to portray and it is a very good and well described one. It is true, there are many levels of pain and while some are petty, others really can hurt. I especially liked the last part. "Cuts, Scrapes, and wounds to the heart." It ties in the main idea perfectly.

Awesome! I'd love to see more of your creations. :)

These were autumn mornings, the time of year when kings of old went forth to conquest; and I, never stirring from my little corner in Calcutta, would let my mind wander over the whole world.
