Latin Cover For Infinity - Jaymes Young
Cara, haec amor numquam morietur -
Neque tangi potest, neque qui conatur.
Sum a te amens tangor, Amor, vix temperavi,
Durabit aeternam, ne posse ne dic mihi -
Namque amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Quia amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
O amica, anima mea scis cupit tua
Complesti inanis vacua mea ex nata tua, O!
Tuque es quia ego credo in fata, mei es tu Elysium
Omnisque amor tua faciam aut esse sacrificium -
Namque amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Quia amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Me convenire infima mare
Quo hora est gelare,
Quo orbis est apertare -
Amor ne est Fors, Fatae adoptare,
Geramus coronam ipsam,
Retarda cor tuam -
Nos iam dei.
Namque amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Quia amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Te amo ad infinitam - O, o, o!
Original English Lyrics For Comparison
Baby, this love
I'll never let it die
Can't be touched by no one
I'd like to see 'em try
I'm a mad man for your touch, girl, I've lost control
I'm gonna make this last forever, don't tell me it's impossible
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
Oh, darling, my soul
You know it aches for yours
And you've been filling this hole
Since you were born, oh
'Cause you're the reason I believe in fate, you're my paradise
And I'll do anything to be your love or be your sacrifice
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (yeah-eh, oh-oh-oh)
Meet me at the bottom of the ocean
Where the time is frozen
Where all the universe is open
Love isn't random, we are chosen
And we could wear the same crown
Keep slowing your heart down
We are the gods now
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
'Cause I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
I love you for infinity (oh-oh-oh)
Poet's Note: I figured that I'd sing a version of this on YouTube, but my voice is really bad. If anyone here knows Classical Latin pronunciation and elision rules, you can contact me in DMs if you wanna sing it yourself

Hey there Rebel! Kinda funny that Hildegard and I both found this work in the Green Room on the same day and decided to review it. The beauty of RevMo, I guess!
I just listened to the original song and I liked it a lot! I'd never heard it before but there's something about the word choices - infinity, crown, gods, sacrifice - that make it feel like a good candidate for this classical treatment. It would be so epic to see your lyrics get the full cover treatment, complete with powerful vocals and Latin-appropriate instruments (organ? harp? lute?).
I appreciate the decision to write "O, o, o!" rather than "oh-oh-oh" - you've committed to the Classical Latin translation here, even down to the sounds that don't have meaning!
Unfortunately that's about all the feedback I can give, as I know close to nothing about Latin! Very cool exercise, though. It seems like you know your stuff!
Keep it up!

Hello
This is very cool. I don't speak Latin, but I do think I am a bit more familiar with it than the average person, and its a real shame that something like will get stuck in the greenroom.
I recognize a lot of the words from Mass and Choir, and though I can't help with grammar, and have no idea how proficient you are in Latin, but as far as things go, it has the correct... vibe I suppose? It feels accurate from comparison and the few words I could pick out. The only suggestion I have is to use bold on the title, and to space it apart from the line before/after the title. Here:

that is just an aesthetic thing. This is really very impressive. I've never heard the song before, I wish you lots of luck with any further translations, and if you are still a student, good luck in your classes.
