If, in my bosom's cove, there's ever a day
I don't think about you --
I'd retrace every step and rewind the day.
If, in your bosom's cove, there's ever a day
You think about me --
Please sigh not and let the feelings stay.
If, in my bosom's cove, a bird sings about you,
I listen to the entire elegy --
For, "every day, I imagine a future where I can be with you."
If, in your bosom's cove, a wind whispers about me,
You don't have to care --
For, every day, I hope you succeed to be who you want to be.
If, in my bosom's cove, a ship sails off looking for you,
I weep and wave it goodbye --
For, I know it will never be back with you.
If, in your bosom's cove, you see a sail wandering like me,
Please but sigh and wave it goodbye --
For, you know you won't be back no matter what you see.
If, in my bosom's cove, I find a treasure named after you,
I will hoard it all for myself --
For, that is what all my world used to be -- you.
If, in your bosom's cove, you find a pebble with my name,
Don't... just throw it away --
For, in the end, you know you used to feel the same.

I really like the rhythm of the poem.
Because I know a little about the game so it could be taken literally but it also works as a metaphor too!I was immediately drawn to the line:
Oh and that is also such a sad thing to read:
Also that she will hoard the treasure for herself... Ahh the feelings!
I also find it interesting that she comments on the MC also feeling like her. Great poem and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the reivew, Tikaya!
i'm unsure if you yourself would call this fanart, but, i did interpret this as so, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say poetry is such an underrated form of fan-art!! just when i was thinking about creating a poem very inspired by a media i like (well, basically fan-art), this is posted! doki doki literature is just so amazing... it was such a delight for it to be mentioned here!! the game is just so, so, impactful... it left me in such a sad state (with some bittersweet feelings) and the experience of playing it always sticks with me. This poem really did remind me of how much doki doki literature impacted me as a game- like all of that experience just resurfaced. Not even just because this poem is a great way of embodying the game, but also because of a poem being made about that game itself.
I loved reading this, even more since it almost feels like the text's rhythm (at some parts) was written in mind with doki doki literature's music! I found "bosom's cove" to be such an interesting way of describing a one's heart. It's flowery, but also very sheltered. It gives me an image of a cave full of flowers—the speaker's heart is so full of flowery, good feelings for someone, but remains to live in them to the point of those feelings sheltering the speaker.
This push-and-pull with the narrative is so, so interesting! It really gives emphasis on how much the speaker revolves around themselves around the game player (or well, reader, for this case). The repetition also gives that emphasis as well, while also being a great reference to the game's repetition itself!!
I also really loved the exploration of the speaker's feelings here. Or well, Monika's feelings. Like it doesn't even just touch on the dependency and harmful obsession, but also touches on her genuine good feelings for the game player to be themselves and to flourish. Which while I feel a lot of people, understandably, mainly focuses on her obsession, I think that sometimes the focus does distract others from acknowledging her other feelings and intentions.
This was a great poem! I really enjoyed reading this!! The bittersweetness of it all... wow. I love it!!
Hey there, thanks for the review! Although it wasn't *exactly* an homage to Your Reality, it does reference it and I also mention that I made this poem after playing the game -- so I get why you think this is a 'fanart' of sorts. But eh, it's just me relating the game to my feelings and some bad stuff that happened to me (dw, it's NOT AS SERIOUS AS IN THE GAME, I am still alive, as you can see), and making a poem out of it like Monika. Thanks anyways! :p
Also, yes, DDLC is a masterpiece. It's one of the most compelling games I have ever played.
