A/N: This is a Biology assignment about making a poem using 5 interrelated Biology terms, it's more of a spoken word piece than a lyrical one, I hope you enjoy it!

The light of life shines bright in the forest
As the sun bathes all in its radiant glory,
The squirrels squeak, the trees sway and jest,
The ecosystem thrives -- and here's its story.
Then, one day, the sky turned gloomy,
The clouds turned black and rain started pouring,
The squirrels went hiding and rivers started flowing;
As thunder struck the mud and muck,
A wildfire erupted in fire and fumes --
An ecological disturbance in infernal doom.
After the fury, the flames died down,
As the dust settled, charred was the ground,
The canopy crouched on the forest floor
As the animals lay -- damned, dead, and gored.
And all this death, furor, and abhorration
Laid the grounds for ecological restoration.
A sapling grew, a flower sprouted,
The rain fell gently, birds chirped and pouted,
Herbs and shrubs and trees grew stout,
The squirrels squeaked again in the animals' shouts --
And, hey, that's how ecological succession plays out.
The story ends never with death and damnation,
The wheel of fortune brings in natural evolution --
With the sun and moon and winds and rivers --
In the harmony of chaos, life and death deliver.

Wow! This is such an amazing poem. If you don't get an A+, I don't know what's going on.
First, the emotion of this poem, despite it being a biology project, it was beautiful. I think I would buy this if I saw it in a bookstore! One of the best quotes was,
I loved that it went from beautiful and soft, to dark and broken, the contrast really makes this unique!
Thank you for sharing this, and keep up the great work! Have a good day/night, and be safe!
What a fascinating concept for a poem! Dragonight here to leave a review on this cycle of life.
I could tell from the start that you have experience in poetry. The stories of poetry matter just as much to me as the feelings they evoke, though here the story is far more obvious than in most.
You transition well between the bright forest at the start, to its dark destruction in the middle and back to the sunny forest at the end. A great picture of the cycle you are describing.
The words you chose had both good rhyme and impact. They told the story clearly yet lost none of the emotional weight. One of my favorite parts was
If I had a criticism it would be the last paragraph. You had a great rhyme scheme throughout the poem but you lost it here a bit. I see what you were going for but after how well the rest of it flowed this was a little jarring.
However, I understand that there are not always perfect rhymes for what you want to say, especially if you want to use specific terms like 'evolution'. So don't take this critique too harshly. I simply couldn't find anything else to improve!
I enjoyed this read a lot more than I thought I would. I may look at some of your other poetry too. Keep up the good writing.
May blazing dragon-fire light your path and ignite the flames of your inspiration.
