A/N: I had to rewrite this chapter a few days ago so the timing set up in last chapter is a bit off. I still have to fix that. Just for the sake of saying so, this chapter takes place immediately after the ending of the last chapter.
Falyn
“I need those answers.” Falyn looked up to see the man walk through the door. He closed it carefully before he continued. “Are you ready to talk?”
She gave him a hard glance, one that she hoped portrayed her annoyance. But his face stayed complacent.
“You can stop trying. I’m never gonna tell.”
The man sneered and flexed his fingers. The pain set in again, piling on top of the aching left from last time.
It felt like her bones were splintering all at once. She could barely move, much less fight back. As time went on, the pain got worse. It spread to her muscles, constricting her movement completely. She fell to the ground, but she couldn’t feel her body hit.
Just when she thought it couldn’t get any worse, her bones set on fire. They burned every time she flinched. Her lungs filled with smoke as if the fire was outside rather than inside her very bones.
She wanted to give up. The man wanted answers? She’d give them to him. She didn’t know much herself, but she would tell him everything. Anything to get the pain to go away.
She remembered what Akia had said that day before their run in with the Force:
If you want to live, come with us.
She’d gone and she had lived. Now it seemed she was going to die. Akia had gotten her this far. And how did Falyn repay her? By getting captured.
With all the strength she had left, she mumbled the words, “I’ll tell.” Although the words were plain and articulate in her mind, they came out as simple gasps and strangled noises, nothing anywhere close to composed words.
The man relinquished his attack. When the pain stopped, it was sweet bliss just like before. She even calmed herself down enough to realized that there was no real fire, that it was all just in her mind. Her bones were right as before, nothing ruined.
She was still laying face down on the floor, collecting her breath. Dust and dirt surrounded her face, but she didn’t care. She felt as if she was breathing in more dust than oxygen. She sputtered, choking on whatever she’d accidently sucked in from the floor.
The man’s boots pounded against the tile as he walked towards Falyn. She forced her head up in time to see him squat down close to her.
“I don’t know what you said, but I’m sure it wasn’t pretty.”
Falyn hesitated. So he didn’t hear what she had said. She was at an advantage. But she had to be careful and play her cards right.
The anger built up inside of her, threatening to explode. Every ounce of resentment that had been washed out by pure agony had returned.
“I said,” she managed to choke out. “You can go fu—”
“Hey,” Rhys said, chuckling. “Watch your language.” She made a growling noise in the back of her throat which only made Rhys laugh even more. She glowered as he stood and dusted off his clothes.
“Well since you haven’t given me the information, I guess I can’t let you go free.” He turned to walk out the door.
“What do you need to know?” she shouted after him. “You know why we were in the woods. You don’t need more for anything else.”
“Oh, but I do,” he said as he swiveled on his heel to face her again. “Remember how I said you were bait?”
“How can I forget?”
Rhys smirked. “You’re job doesn’t stop there. You are doing a fantastic job being bait. But you also know more than you think you do. I’m going to need those secrets that you’re hiding. Or rather, the powers that you’re hiding.”
Falyn rolled her eyes. “Can’t anyone just give me a straight answer for once? I’m tired of this secrecy.” Rhys narrowed his eyes.
“You want answers? I’ll give you answers.
“You have powers you don’t know about, powers that are beyond your pathetic imagination. Everyone around here thinks the each person in each world is the same. Agithi has the mages. Pollume has – or rather had – the seers. Sedula has the shapeshifters.”
“Sedula? I’ve never heard of that world.”
“That’s because you mages only care about yourselves and your pathetic rivalry with the seers,” he said dismissively. “My point is, each world only has one power. But you—you my dear, have more than one power in you. You’re stronger than you think. And that’s why Lightport is so bent on keeping you safe.”
Falyn stared at him, her mouth agape. She was a mage; her only power was to wield magic. She had been doing magic since she was five. Never was there any indication that she had other powers.
Except…
“You mean—” she hesitated. “You mean, like the time stop?” Rhys’s face changed from smug to surprise quick as lightning. Falyn knew immediately that she shouldn’t have mentioned it. Obviously Rhys didn’t know about it yet.
“Time stop?”
“What are these powers I have?” she asked quickly, hoping he’d glaze over her comment.
But he didn’t.
He reached forward, grabbing her by the collar and pulling her close. The chains tugged back at her arms, sending shooting pain to her shoulders. Rhys didn’t seem to care. He simply glared at her.
“You are going to tell me what the hell you mean by a time stop. That’s not something you can pretend was never said.”
She was terrified, and it showed on her face; she couldn’t help it. Her eyes were wide, rapidly moving between his orange eyes. Something that later would bother her. But at the moment, she could barely breathe and was trying hard to not suck in the awful, onion smell that his breath had.
She waited for his next move. Would he torture her again? Would he kill her then and there? No, he couldn’t kill her. She was at an advantage, again. He didn’t know what the time stop was. He needed information from her.
After a few seconds, he relaxed and let go of her shirt. She backwards, nearly landing on her head.
Rhys’s boots pounded on the floor as he walked out of the room. “I will be back, Falyn. And you will give me answers. I’m not buying this innocent bystander act anymore.”
The door slammed shut and Falyn let out a sigh of relief. He was finally gone. It was all over. Until he came back that is. And she had no doubt that he would return.
She thought about what he said. Was she really that special? Akia had warned her not to take any of this lightly. There was something going on and it seemed like Rhys was the only one giving her answers.
Strange. I figured he’d be one of the first to hide things from me.
She shook the thoughts from her mind and sat up. There was no use worrying about things that may or may not be true. What she did need to worry about was finding a way out of there.
Looking around, she gasped. The walls were on longer there; the wood had disappeared. There was nothing but emptiness that surrounded her. She looked to her right, curious to see what else there was to the building she was in. But there was nothing but empty rooms.
The room to her left, however, was occupied; by Akia. Falyn stared as Akia ran over and slammed her hands against something. She moved her mouth, obviously trying to communicate with her, but no sound came out. Falyn furrowed her brow and turned her head in confusion.
Akia got the message. She slowed down, moving her mouth in slow, deliberate movements.
“No time to…explain,” Falyn muttered to herself, trying to figure out exactly what Akia was saying. “Rhys won’t…give up. Must get out.
“Yeah, no kidding!” She shouted back. Akia rolled her eyes. She seemed to be able to hear Falyn, which only confused her more. There was nothing there, nothing cutting them off from each other. Yet Akia couldn’t get to Falyn and Falyn couldn’t hear what she was saying. It had to be some strange sort of magic.
Just as Akia opened her mouth, the lights flickered off, plunging the rooms into darkness. Falyn looked around frantically until it seemed to register in her brain that the lights were out. All she could do was sit and wait, wondering what was going on.
There was a soft rumbling sound that reached her ears, but she couldn’t determine where it was coming from. It got increasingly louder until it suddenly stopped. Falyn’s heart pounded in anticipation, waiting to figure out what exactly the sound was.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang and the door in front of her exploded. Her heart nearly leapt out of her chest when she heard the noise. Debris from the door whizzed by her. She ducked her head, bracing herself for any contact. Luckily nothing hit her.
Someone tugged at the shackles on her wrists until she was free. Before she could think or speak, she was being yanked to her feet and pulled out of the room. She stumbled along the way, tripping over debris littering the floor.
They stopped suddenly and there was a slight pause. Then came three hard, loud knocks.
“If you don’t want to get flattened by the door, I’d suggest standing back.”
Falyn recognized the deep voice. She yanked her arm out of the person’s grip and took a step back. They didn’t move to grab her or bring her back.
“Zeke? Is that you?”
Zeke let out an aggravated sigh and slammed his hands against the door. “Akia, do you want to die by exploding door? Because that’s what’s gonna end up happening if you don’t move.”
Akia let out a string of curse words. Her voice got progressively quieter. When she couldn’t be heard any more, there was a loud bang and a sudden rush of air. Falyn raised her arms in front of her face to block any debris that might come her way.
“Come on,” Zeke shouted from somewhere in Akia’s room. “We need to get going. Take my hand.”
“I’m taking nothing of yours. I can get myself out.”
“I know my way out.”
“And you think I don’t?” Akia retorted. Her voice was much closer so Falyn took a cautious step forward. Before she knew it, someone yanked her forward and they all took off into the darkness.
There was something discerning about sprinting off into nothingness. Falyn had no idea where she was going or which direction to go in next. All she could do was trust that Akia and Zeke knew where they were going. And that they could quit arguing with each other long enough to work together.
It felt like they were going to run for eternity. There was an empty feeling in her gut as they ran on; like she wasn’t even there. It was as if they had fallen into a dark, never ending abyss.
But then they stopped and someone pushed open a door. They had reached the end of the abyss.
Sunlight rammed into them, sending Falyn stumbling backwards. The light was more than her eyes could handle. She squinted, black dots dancing around in her vision. But she wasn’t able to be shocked for long; Zeke kept pulling her along.
Once they were surrounded on all sides with the sun, it became too much. She couldn’t see in the dark and she couldn’t see in the light either. She stopped, shielding her eyes from the intense heat. She couldn’t go any longer until her eyes adjusted.
“Come on, we can’t stop,” Akia said, grabbing Falyn’s arm and dragging her along. “The woods aren’t that far away now. If we don’t get back there, Rhys will come after us again. And this time he won’t be as kind.”

Hey, Noelle! Adrian here for a review. Yeah, so sorry I haven't done this before. Life has been life, and the internet has been really distracting. Nevertheless, I shall attempt to review. (I really do hope that this is helpful in anyway shape or form.)
I must say, I do like this chapter. Having read it over several times, I think I'm obligated to say that. It seems to be crafted really well and I like the emotions that are conveyed. The story is interesting and it keeps me going. I'm able to feel fear for Falyn, while knowing that (probably) nothing bad will happen.
While I did say this last chapter, Rhys seems rather... I don't know how to put it now. He radiates evilness. With the torture and the titles (with last chapter and the, "You know you can’t escape, daughter of Kit." part.) He even looks like a villain. I really, really, really want to know more about him. He wants a locket, and information. That's what I can remember.
He also has these creepy orange eyes. How did he get orange eyes? *shudders*LANGUAGE, FALYN. Since this is a different world, would they even have curse words? I mean, curse words similar to ours? In the Wheel of Time "burn [insert object here]" or "light" is our equivalent to "damn". (Excuse my French.)
Sorry. I'm just really reminded of angsty teens and movies. Though, one part of me wonders if you intend for the... aura of these scenes to come off like that. As I have stated before, it feels really comical and not serious at all.
One, I'm just a little bit disappointed in her, but I don't really blame her. She wants answers, but Rhys isn't the best guy to talk to. Two, I'm really hoping that time stop will be explored a lot. Because that can be interesting. Is there a limit on the power? Can she do it whenever? Did Fay suppress it?
Conceal don't feel, don't let it show...If she can do it whenever, what stopped her from doing it when he was torturing her? This story is moving along, and is really engaging. Falyn was rescued, so that's good. I do wonder if she'll have nightmares about this or something, because it's got to be a traumatic experience. Even though the fire was in her mind, it's got to leave some sort of scar. Anyway, this novel is amazing and I hope that you continue to write!

Hello, Noelle! KatyaElefant here for another review! Let's see what we have right here! This review is going to be more of a series of questions and reviewing over what happened than me commenting on this story because this chapter doesn't have much for me to comment on because it is so well written.

So that line that says, "If you want to live, come with us", is so out of the lego movie. SO FROM IT. Like I can quote the lego movie where that one character says, "If you want to not die, then follow me". Are you copying them? Is this plagiarism? You better have a bibliography at hand because you're going to need it.
Oh my gosh Rhys is just hilarious with his sarcastic humor. Like where he is like watch your language when all he is doing is threatening her life. It's not that big of a deal. Meh! OH YOU ARE SO GOOD AT BEING BAIT! Here, let me feed you to the fishies! XD
Could I have some feedback on why you haven't changed the sentence structure mistakes? That would be nice because at some times, it is appropriate but at other times, it really stops me from reading and enjoying the chapter.
Now that I've talked to you in a previous chapter about Zeke, now I wonder if he is good or bad because he seems kind off shady. He could just as easily betray them as with to support them. Ughhhh! I would read more but I have to go to sleep! Gosh darn it! Well, I have to say that your novel is progressing very nicely and I am having a lot of trouble reviewing it because the farther I read into it, the better it gets. I can only find problems in grammar and that is it. You are too good Noelle!
Keep calm and keep writing!
~KatyaElefant
Timmy here!
This is going to be the shortest review I have ever given you because I just don't feel review today. But I'll try. I don't have time to read all the other reviews below me, so please forgive me if I tend to copy a few of their points.
One thing I was curious about when I read this was that after your brilliant description of the rooms simply fading away, you contradicted yourself rather badly. Okay, so you say that "there was nothing but the emptiness around her". That is a beautiful line and very descriptive, even while being not very descriptive because that implies there is nothing to describe. Nothing there. Sometimes describing nothing is harder than describing tangible objects. But then you went on to describe that "But there was nothing but empty rooms" - and then my mind went, "okay, so there is something - but empty rooms are pretty close to emptiness, I guess... just fuller." So that part was okay, but then you went on to this part: "The room to her left, however, was occupied; by Akia." And well, there you are telling us that, no, this place isn't emptiness, and, no, the rooms aren't exactly empty. So, you described three different settings here: the emptiness, the empty rooms, and the non-empty rooms, separated by nothing. So I think you may want to choose one there, because I was pretty confused there.
O_O All I am gonna say.
Awkward, with superfluous words throughout. I think this could be simplified rather... well, simply. So you could go through and do this: [/i]"breath and tried hard to not suck in his awful onion breath."[/i] - or something along those lines. I hope that makes sense.
You don't say! xD I found this part funny - in a good way.
You seem to use semi-colons like everyone else in writing uses em-dashes.... Is that intentional, like a stylistic choice or something? Because, like here--
--you could have chosen to do an Em-dash (I probably would have, since I go crazy over them. I overuse them if anyone can), or you could have simply left it out altogether and allowed the sentence to flow by. Something a writing mentor told me: "If it's unusual, then keep it that way." Pretty much, he was saying that your reader won't be used to a strange way of doing semi-colons or anything, and so it may take them out of the story. Like, right there, he was nitpicking my way of doing Em-dashes (or rather my frequent usage of them), but I think it could apply here just as well.
I liked Falyn's character in this chapter. I think it really pushed her personality and development forward even more than you had in the other chapters, and I liked that she was still being somewhat smart (I say somewhat because she was silly a few time in the chapter, too.
I think I will leave you here. This chapter is wonderfully written, and I am enjoying the balanced conversations and thoughts and scene setting set throughout. This story just gets better and better as we go along.
~Darth Timmyjake
So the part about the other rooms being empty and all that. I was trying to say that Falyn noticed the other rooms, which were empty, and then saw Akia's next to her. Is it too confusing as it stands? Think I need to be more specific?
I think it's just a teensy bit too confusing for me. Maybe a bit more indepth description there?
Gotcha. I'll add that to my list of what to edit. Thanks
Welcome.
Heya!
I like the invisible wall thing! Did I say that last time? I don't remember. I actually thought it was glass... but it makes more sense for it to be some sort of magic.
I'm wondering where on earth Sam is? Maybe keeping watch while Zeke went in? I'm sure he must be doing something useful. But it would have almost made sense for Sam to break them out instead of Zeke, only because Akia dislikes Zeke a lot ( that's if Akia was a part of the rescue planning ), and Zeke is not really 'trustable'. Well... maybe Akia doesn't really have a reason to not trust him... but he's still kind of new to the group, and I'm not so sure that they would so readily choose him to do the breaking out. Unless of course something happened to Sam, and Zeke was the only one left to do the rescuing.
*is done rambling*
There's this one typo that confused me... twice! So I thought it was worth pointing out:
I keep reading the 'came' and thinking: Oh no! He's come back to torture her more!!! Yeah, you know this, but it should be 'comes' or something.
I personally think that it would go better with the whole paragraph if you replaced 'ruined' with 'burnt'. Of course that's just kind of icing on the cake.
I thought that your imagery was really good, especially when you were describing her 'burning'. I could practically taste the smoke! And the pain was unbearable!
Keep it up, Noelle!!!

Hi Noelle!
I love how you added that to her character. We can see she is a careful thinker, going through what she is going to say before she does. Which is something really needed in her situation. I am also really happy to see that Zeke has come to rescue them. It makes me wonder where Sam and Mina are, but I guess that is something we will know in enough time. You haven't left me with too much to critique
Whoa, this was a very well written chapter. I am glad you also showed this from Falyn's perspective. I wondered if she was going to be able to see Akia and what was happening when she was tortured. We can also really see that sometimes Falyn can be a bit feisty, especially when angry
I feel like you were just missing one word at the end of this sentence. Perhaps it?
One thing that feels kind of thrown at us is the fact that Falyn has magic! This was never mentioned before and well, frankly we have yet to see her even use it! So maybe when you're editing you can go back and make sure it is previously mentioned a bit, or that she uses it. I want to know what her magic capabilities are. So far I have seen Falyn has fairly helpless when it comes to protecting herself, but knowing she has this advantage it can't be too bad. I guess that means everyone in their group has magic? I am a little confused at the moment. When I found out Mina had it, I found it rather out of the blue, but now Falyn too! (No rhyme intended xD)
I couldn't really picture this. How can her eyes be wide open and moving between his eyes? It made me picture these eyes in a row, and some eyes in between moving from one eye to another. I think you should change this sentence a bit and clear it up. Maybe just mention that her eyes were wide, and only at that point she noticed that his were orange?
I found this a bit hard to believe. I mean, the definition is in the name! I would've easily been able to guess that a time stop is when she stopped time. So, maybe have Falyn call it something else, so it's more believable that he doesn't really know what it is?
I feel like you're missing a key word here. Maybe something like she fell backwards, or whatever you intend to put there.
I think the 'by' here should be replaced with the words because of an...
Tiiiny nitpick, but the with should be a by instead.
Right, that's all I've got to say! You've done a good job here, and the story just keeps getting better and better ^.^ Keep me updated! And keep up the posting for TLMSC
Deanie x
Hey, I've gotten to it now!
So, I did notice a lot of grammar errors. I always lose place of them though:/ And I don't know how to do the quote thing anyway.. Lol, even if I did, I would probably be too lazy. So just know that there are quite a few of those, mostly just spelling, leaving a word out, or putting in unnecessary punctuation. So that's the boring part of the review done;) Okay, so this chapter was very fast paced, just like all th others. However, I really think you should just slow down a bit. Explain a little more. You're leaving so many things mysterious that it's often hard to follow. As far as this chapter goes, towards the end especially, it can get confusing who you're talking about. You say a lot of things like "someone did this" or "a person opened a door" or whatever. That leads me to believe that there are a lot of people in this part with no names. If it was someone we know, tell us! Don't get me wrong, this was a good chapter, but I think it could use some improvement. You told us a lot, but we still have a lot we need to know to fully understand the story. Keep writing!
Thanks! The reason for not mentioning names at the end is because the place is dark. And since this is written in 3rd person limited, we only get Falyn's perspective. She has no idea what's going on except that she's been running for a long time. Is it really that confusing? It'll actually be really easy for me to fix.
Oh I understand what you mean now. Makes much more sense!
Hi, Noelle! This is pinkie here for a special review. I like to be your reviewer if you don't mind. Also, this review is not that special. I see people does this reviews all the time! Anyway, let's get this review started. *puts on the funny glasses* Don't say anything about it.

Mmmm....I see that Alchemist did the grammar errors on here. I guess I do my favorite thing...No, not partying! Telling you about this story, silly.
Like Alchemist said, this chapter is the better one than the last one. (Don't hate me, please.) You made this plot very interesting to read. You made the characters so realistic and interesting! I love this chapter very much! However, you do have grammar errors like Alchemist said. I don't have any time to point them out because he beat me to it and I am tired from partying! But you did a great masterpiece on here. I hope to read more from you and these chapters. I love to see Chapter 12!
Awesome Job!
Cheers
Your reviewer, Pinkiegirl13
P.S: I hope you win the LMS contest! XD
Hello Noelle, you know very well why I'm here (spamspamspam
).

This is really great chapter. Actually, for quite some time I have a feeling I'm reading an actuall novel here, so I can tell by that that it's really good. And there is a bonus: I kinda really felt something creeping up my bones when you described Falyn's pain. You know it's good when it reaches reality.
Another plot twist: not so obvious, like something happening out of nowhere, but rather concerning wider picture. Somehow, I really felt like Rhys maybe isn't even a bad guy at all, I think there would be space for that, somehow. And yet another time, Zeke acts weirdly.
And his chemistry with Akia is amazing. Sometimes characters just hate eachother, but there must be something more here. xD
Hmmm you had some typos so far: You forgot to close off quotations two times, once you misspelled lying, and I think you wrote NO instead of ON once. Something like that. Yeah and when Rhys let her shirt off, you wrote "She backwards", which I guess was "She fell backwards".
Amazing chapter, and I'm in love with your story, really. Moar!
