Why?

Why?

Why? Why is this all repeated?
Why must I face fights and arguments?
Why must I see this everyday?
Why?
Why do you call yourselves friends-
if all you do is argue and fight?
Why must I be in the middle?
~
Do you see....
the pain that it brings me?
The stress?
The tears?
The hours full of blinding headaches?
~
Do you notice...
the times I just want
to scream
from frustration and anger?!
Because these are caused by these moments.
~
Do you even care...
that I put on a fake smile?
I say, "Nothing is wrong. I'm fine."
when you ask, "Are you okay?"
Why do I do this,
because I don't want to
see either of you hurt.
Or to have you be hurt.
~
But Why?
Why must I do this?
I am a good friend, that's why.
I listen, when you come to me.
I talk when you need comforted.
I may seem like I can handle it,
but no longer can I keep this up.
~
Do you understand...
My feelings?
Do you understand...
that face I am always in the middle,
pulled from two directions
to take a single side.
~
No longer!
I am a middle party,
the tension breaker.
I am kind and thoughtful of your feelings,
but you still look at me and come crying,
not realizing the stress you place upon mind and heart.
~
But talk to me, if you so desire.
I will talk, I will listen.
I am more than willing too.
But I refuse to take sides.

Hey Tulip, I took up your offer! As you may have guessed, I'm Strange. I clicked a random poem in your portfolio and decided to review it!
This message packs a punch! A good alternative title would be The Middle, but Why is a great name. I know how this feels, too. This is a poem I can relate to, one of the only poems on here to do so. This is a tough scenario to be stuck in. I just love it.
You want to be a good friend, but you want it to go both ways. I really like that. That's how we all feel. There was no pattern, but it's still a great poem. A fantastic one, at that point. I'm not the world's best reviewer, but I have an opinion so that matters.
Overall, magnificent!
Strange gives you..
10/10
Great job
Keep writing
Stay groovy, Red team

Hey! Sis here for a review on this lovely Review Day! (Not really. It's been raining) So, first off, great poem! I really liked the idea behind it. I'm sure everyone feels like this quite a lot, so it was really a really cool idea to write a poem about it.

The flow in some places didn't seem to go right, but with a few minor things that can be changed so I'm not going to badger you about that. Even though this didn't rhyme, it was still really good. normally I'm more of a rhyming person, but this works really well without rhyming! Well done! My favorite part was:

But talk to me, if you so desire.
I will talk, I will listen.
I am more than willing too.
But I refuse to take sides.

Again, this is amazing! I look forward to hearing more from you in the future! Keep writing and keep smiling! XD

Hey, Flame here!

I love this. The emotion was so raw, pulled straight from the heart. The title also fit the theme well. I must say, the repetition really highlighted the meaning.

What contributes the most to this poem's beauty is the fact that many can relate to it. My favorite lines:

I am a middle party,
the tension breaker.
I am kind and thoughtful of your feelings,
but you still look at me and come crying,
not realizing the stress you place upon mind and heart.

There were a few technical errors, spelling and grammar and punctuation-wise. Just take some time to reread your piece--tone down the ellipses, check for typos--and you'll be fine there.

Thank you for submitting this. Can't wait to read more of your work!

Hello GreenTulip!

This was a very interesting and well-written poem. Although, I think that it could have contained more rhymes? Ah, nevertheless, it was wonderfully written and I could totally understand everything 'I' was feeling. Also, in poetry, you have to capitalize every letters in a sentence - wait. That didn't make any sense....

[Do you understand...
My feelings?
Do you understand...
That face I am always in the middle,
Pulled from two directions
To take a single side.]

Yep, like that. It should be capitalized like that. (I fixed it! :) )

I don't know why, but this stanza just.. stuck to me :

[No longer!
I am a middle party,
the tension breaker.
I am kind and thoughtful of your feelings,
but you still look at me and come crying,
not realizing the stress you place upon mind and heart.]

Because I can empathize with it so much.

Well, this poem was wonderful and quite well-written. I'd like to see more of your poems.

Keep writing! Mephis

Thank you for the thoughtful review, it is one of the nicer ones that I have received today. I love the feedback, you provided. There is just one thing that I have to address from your review- the line capitalizing. It is strange for me to do that, as most poems I write, carry one sentence across a few lines- so it strange to do that.

I can give you a link to a website that has more of my writings on it, if you want to read more of them.

Oh, I am so sorry. I absolutely respect your style of writing. I apologize.

And, of course! I would LOVE to read more of your writings!

Not all works are poetry, but some are short stories and a few are books. But the website can be easy to navigate. :)
