Flowers lead to sadness

Flowers should lead to happiness
but I disagree with that statement.

They don't create happy feelings,
they just create content feelings,
for just a short amount of time.

They are vibrant at first,
then they crumble and die.
Why keep them and hope for life?

Flowers and feelings are temporary,
meant to be vibrant for moments,
not meaning to be immortal.

Why should flowers lead to happiness,
when all they do is bring sadness?

Chilow, jumping on the review train :) Here we go!

I'm very glad I read this over a few times, because at first I couldn't have disagreed more with the message. I realize now though that it speaks more truthfully than I think any other way it could have been said.

Flowers can symbolize feelings, or at least, bring on the feelings that are associated with them, I.E. happiness, gratitude, thankfulness, etc. A person can only relate such feelings to flowers because that's what we have made them do for us, failing to realize that by that same note they /have/ to also embody what it means for those feelings to wither as the petals do. No one can be happy forever, at least not based upon a simple object or gift in the form of a flower.

Inevitably, the flowers die and we are sad that we can no longer enjoy their beauty and aroma. As such, I think this poem is perhaps much deeper than I could have seen when I read it so hastily the first time. Thank you for sharing this with us all, I think it is an important, if somewhat disheartening message.

I think it should be said, however, that the opposite is also true. One cannot forever be sad, just the same as they cannot forever be happy. The same goes for all emotions, I think, even though some emotions are easier to find and keep than others.

Anyways, fantastic writing, and a fantastic piece :) I believe I will be heading over to read some of your other poems as well, so expect to hear from me again, whether you like it or not! (Actually though, tell me if this was annoying and not helpful at all lol.) Keep up the great writing! Cheers LD

How are you, GreenTulip?
This is Moonwatcher and I'll be your reviewer today.

the title of this poem and your username...hehehehehe

Contradictory themes are fun to write about. Therefore, I liked this poem, because it put a lot on my mind to think about and soak in.

My main issue with this poem is that it isn't very poetic. I feel as if the poem isn't very deep, and a little bit bland. This could very easily be a statement.

Punctuation is present throughout the poem, and this little thing kind of just pokes at my mind a little bit.

Why should flowers lead to happiness,
when all they do is bring sadness.

I'd add a question mark at the end instead of a period ;)

Another nitpick is that in the second stanza, there is a double space in between "content" and "feelings". I'd paste it here, but the double space wouldn't show up in the review. That's all I really have to say. I hope this helps!

They bring sadness of death. Yes, absolutely. People overestimate them. Anyway, great job! I really liked this. Gives me a lot of feels. I did catch a couple of rhymes, but not a lot. Was that the purpose of the poem to rhyme? Eh, poems don't need to rhyme.

I have a suggestion, could you say instead of "they create content feelings" you could add a bit more and say "they just create content feelings." I just thought that part was a little bland.

Anyway, great job! Keep writing!

Hello, I'm Sandman and I'll be taking care of all of your reviewing needs today.

To start us off I want to say that this is something that we share. The feeling about how flowers don't really create happiness. They only create content feelings. That's the truth. I did find one thing that I'm not so sure about.
"not being to be immortal."
Did you mean to say:
"not meaning to be immortal." ?
Sorry. That really confused me...
This is, overall, a really good piece of writing and poetry. I think that this is one of the only pieces about flowers that I actually sat through and read. It's one of the most amazing random thoughts that some one's had that I got to read in awhile.

To have more, you have to become more. Don't wish it was easier - wish you were better. For things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to get better.
