Who am I?
I am me,
but what does
that truly mean?
I am one of a kind,
with my mixture
of behaviors
and beliefs.
I am a very loyal,
proud, determined,
outgoing, outspoken,
free spirit.
But I am also a
perfect student, a "Teacher's Pet",
a bookworm,
among all other things.
Truly, who am I?
I should be able to find this out,
but the truth is hiding from me!
I can't seem to find out anything
about who I am, and
who I should be.
I am always struggling with this,
as every single day we change.

Hi!
I like this poem and I think (as the other reviewers have mentioned) it is very relatable. It shows how when people ask us to define ourselves, sure we can say "bookworm" or "proud" but what does that really mean? How can we truly figure out who we are? I also like how at the end you mention that we are changing everyday. This is an idea most people don't acknowledge when talking about identity. People assume they are static when in fact we are changing everyday. Good poem!
Hi GreenTulip, Ruby here for a review
I like the subject of this poem because identity crisis is something that happens to anyone. I think that a younger audience will really understand this struggle because that's kind of all a teenager goes through sometimes. It was interesting to read your personal take on it. Also, I like that your final conclusion was that 'we', which includes everyone, recognizes that everyone also goes through this crisis as we change. It's a very wise thought and leaves the reader with a message to consider.
I feel like the poem was broken up with a lot of commas which obviously isn't a bad thing as it pertains to following correct grammar, but for the sake of it being a poem you could try tweaking a few lines to take some of them out.
Great poem, love the idea!
Hey, ElephantGirl here giving you a review.
I loved this poem. I love diving into the abstract and really digging into ideas and writing about them. I also agree with your idea that people are changing, and that it is hard to know who oneself is really and truly. I think you could have written some things that you also dislike about yourself (not a lot, maybe a line or two) and try to balance that out. Other than that this was a beautiful poem. Keep on writing!!
Hey.
Really understand what you're saying thought this work. You did marvelous expressing your thoughts here! The format is very nice and unique. No qualms with punctuation or spelling. Not sure if you did the capitalization on purpose or not. The strictest grammatical rule states that the first letter in a line of poetry should be capitalized, however, I do realize that many times the lack thereof is often done on purpose. Great
GT you have nailed a topic that I talk about a whole lot. such a strange question "who am I" pretty straight forward if your talking about names but when you go beyond names that's when it gets a little difficult to explain and that's why its such prominent question. that's what you need in a good poem most the time, a question it can be one word such as "why" or something as long as I don't know "to be or not to be" that's not very good but I couldn't think of something else. it flows nicely, its consistent and goes over a single topic and even better its also given me an idea of a poem of my own which I thank you for. please I beg you matter what, DO NOT STOP, you are a promising writer who has a brilliant future laid out ahead of them and I cant wait till I see more of work here good job.
Hi Green tulip!
I really like your poem. i think a lot of children can relate to it. what i can understand through the poem is a child goes through complex emotions. he or she is trying to understand and find their true self. At times the child thinks that he or she knows exactly who they are but doubts appear making them think twice. the child know that they are different, we all are our we not? The child has labelled himself ( forgive me but i am going to pretend this is a boy) as various things such as bookworm, teachers' pet etc and also realized his strengths. However that is not enough for him. I believe that there is more to him and he knows it too. He wishes to find out about his true inner person before it is too late.
I really like that the poem is in a rhyming format and how you have taken different angles when expressing feeling and emotions of the child.
Keep up the good work!
O.o
