I have come to the conclusion
That I can't speak English.

Not when there are words such as
Hoydenish and Voguish.

Perhaps I should move away,
And learn Spanish instead.

Maybe they, at least,
Only have one word for 'mislead?'

I say I can write,
And I thought I could too,

But I've never known
How many words meant 'Blue'

Do you wanna know something?
This would all be fine.

But at pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocosis,
I have to draw the line.

No, this is not great,
It is definitely not Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I'd say this whole situation
Is completely, and utterly, atrocious.

Heya Horisun,

Shady here with a quick review for you tonight!

I really like this poem! It's lighthearted and amusing, but also you do a really nice job with your meter and flow, with a casual and yet nicely-executed rhyme-scheme! Well done!

I particularly liked these couplets:

Perhaps I should move away,
And learn Spanish instead.

Maybe they, at least,
Only have one word for 'mislead?'

The flow is on point, and it just was really smooth and elegant with a really natural sounding rhyme. Next Dr. Seuss over here, I tell ya ;)

I say I can write,
And I thought I could too,

But I've never known
How many words meant 'Blue'

This is also a really endearing set of couplets! The only critique I have is the "meant Blue" has a bit of an "off" flow to it, if that makes sense? I can't really put my finger on why exactly that line isn't working for me. At first I thought it was off on syllable counts, but that seems fine? But maybe if you ever go back to revise this you could play around with this line to see if you can find a word that flows better than "meant" in this situation?

I also really adore how you threw in some of the horrendously long words there at the end! It really enhanced the point of the poem, and you even somehow managed to keep them in your rhyme scheme, which, mad respect. xD

Overall, this is a really cute poem, and I really enjoyed reading it!

Keep writing and Happy RevMo!

~Shady

Oh my god this is adorable!! I feel like I could see this in as a poem people would discuss in a 5th grade grammar/English class.

Something about it really gets to me :D

One small criticism I have is the line "I say I can write, and I thought I could too."
I can't put my finger on it but I feel like the tense is off. I know what you are trying to say, but it sounds like it is redundant. Maybe "I've said I could write, and I've thought I could too."

Also, maybe instead of "wanna know" something, I feel like "want to know" would have been a better choice. Even though the poem is speaking humorously, I still thought it sounded pretty formal in word choice.

I loooove the end though, its perfect execution of humor!!

I say I can write,
And I thought I could too, You should delete these two lines, they're a little but not a lot off on their own.

But I've never known
How many words meant 'Blue'good line.

Do you wanna know something?
This would all be fine. Please use a word other than "This". It would be more powerful. like, when you said you never knew how many words meant blue. Clear, direct, and specific words help a lot in imagery and emotion.

Hey!

This is a very fun, silly poem that defiantly gets your point across without me thinking too hard and without slamming it in my face. Great job! I especially love the word

pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocosis,

I don't know if you know what it means, but it is a name for a rare lung disease. (Don't think I'm some sort of freak because I know this, I just looked it up;))

Lol, thanks. I made sure to google the meaning of the word before I put it in here XD

Hello Horisun,
This poem was lighthearted and nice to read. Making fun of, yet (in my opinion) rejoicing in all the delicious words of the English language.

Maybe they, at least,
Only have one word for 'mislead?'

I wouldn't change anything in the poem. The grammar, spelling, rhyming and rhythm of the poem was perfect!

But at pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocosis,
I have to draw the line.

I have no idea what this means or how to pronounce it. But it's funny to try read!
Anyways, if you have any questions please feel free to ask! Keep on writing and have a great rest of your day!

Thanks! I think their are videos on how to say this one word, which is insane!

Hey I’m here to review

Okay so I like this, and you’ve got a point. There are way too many words in the fricken dictionary, like they need to hire someone to rewrite it. ANYWAY

I loved the rhyming in this poem and I think it flowed decently well. This gives me child vibes and idk why, I feel like you’d be really good at writing children fiction or like children books.

Ok so some critique:

When you said: “Maybe they, at least, only have one word for mislead?” I would change mislead to another word that rhymes with instead. I know you wanted for it to be pronounced misLED but I keep reading it misLEED. You don’t have to change it but it’s just my thoughts.

Now tbh I forgot synonym was a word until I read your title, so you get brownie points for reminding me of basic English. Thanks

You’re like the dr Seuss of yws and I’m here for it.

I have nothing else to add so goodbye for now... (dramatic music)

Thanks for the review! That was something I worried about when I wrote "Mislead." I also had "Bread" In there for awhile, but then I realized there was really only one word for that, so I went with the former instead, and sorry, now I'm rambling XD point is, thanks for the review!
