The voices echo and mingle,
awaiting the great festivities
Of business and hope and opportunity
Their hearts pumped outrageously
beating under the hollow skin of their chests
So much it was like
They were going to EXPLODE
Bah-boom
Bah-boom
Their brains were scattered and disorganised.
Emotions and thoughts bleated triumphantly
making haphazardly journeys across neurons
and synapses,
filled with questions and expectations.
Questions.
Questions.
Questions.
So much and so many
like their brains would fly out of their heads.
Education
Poverty
Health
Equality
Tick, tock
Tick, tock
The lady came onto the stage
Speaking from a yellow sheet of words
that streamed from her mouth
Behind the microphone
Her voice boomed
Like a God
Words that promised gold
and hope.
Contracts,
of a new world
So many things
So many opportunities
So many ideas and presentations
Of wealth and fortune
like her mouth would drop down onto the floor
Promises
Lies
Emptiness
Inside
Chitter, chatter
Chitter, chatter
Her teeth went, knocking up from the inside
The audience’s eyes popped open
Their pupils dilated
and their smiles begun
like a web
of trusted truth
and loyalty.
Fallen into the trap
of intoxication
plagued with the illness
of malfunctioning brains
They didn’t work this time.
They were caught
in the spider’s den
Wow,
Really?
Thank you
Help us
Ooh and ahh
Ooh and ahh
Went their lips
Up and down
Smiles and frowns
The lady smiled deviously
Their names were signed on the sheets
She had got what she needed
Trust,
that she would disobey
Money-
went her mind
Fame
Wealth
Fortune
She tittered of the stage
High heels clacking
They bowed down
and refrained
From interfering
with evil
The devil’s contract signed
Scribble, scribble
Went the pen on the paper
Ink christening
The empty spaces
With agreements
Bah-boom
Bah-boom
Went the hearts of the sick
Deprived of medication
Silenced
And died
Into a
Beeeeeeeepppppppp
Tick, tock,
Tick, tock
Went the brains of the young
Their minds racing
Trying to find the right answers
That they were not given
Tick, tock
Like time
And a cuckoo clock
Where did it all go to waste?
Chitter, chatter
Chitter, chatter
Went the teeth of the poor
Left hungry and starved
Out in the cold
Barely a blanket
To protect them from
Rain and snow
Ooh and ahh
Ooh and ahh
Went the lips of the people
Looking at photos
Of yachts and villas
Parties of champagne
Grapes and wine
Gold toilets
And jewel clustered thrones
Rooms devoted to
A single wardrobe
Sure, they made the right choice
Of believing the one
Who lied before
Now the paid the price
And truth looked at them in the eyes

Hey hey Illy! Ducklin here for a review
Although this can't be considered as a real review, just me telling you how much I loved this poem. I adored the construction or rather lyrical voice this poem had. Almost as if it could be sung in some old tavern by pirates
Your word choice really expresses your opinion and feelings well about this subject. And that's most of the time the goal of a poem. So congratulations!
Keep on writing
Ducklin
First off: Wow, what a powerful piece
Second off: I think that you really nailed some topics that many people struggle to understand.
The first of which is when people idolize and worship politicians. They give them all their trust, and can't accept that nobody is perfect, and thus subject to criticism. And I think this really sticks out in the lines, "Wow,/Really?/Thank you/Help us". It's such a strange world that we live in, where people cannot strive for change because they can't recognize the issue first.
The second topic I think you carried across really well was how in a lot of cases, politicians have their own private agendas that clash with what is best for the people. And the lines, "She had got what she needed/Trust,/that she would disobey/Money-/went her mind/Fame/Wealth/Fortune" exposed the motives of many people in power today.
The third and final topic was how often times politics really do nothing to help the people who need it the most. I think (and this is just my opinion) that it's very rare when someone with power ACTUALLY does something to benefit the oppressed. I live in the US, so I'm just gonna say that you described exactly what goes on here. ~it's quite chaotic~
Third off: Did you really have to make the rhymes that good? I mean I'm sitting here like "okok, DANG." because they were just incredible.
This is such a great piece, I'm glad that you shared this, and I got to read it. 10/10 no improvements needed.
