Music is More

In Poems

Music isn't just my passion.

It's not just my pride and joy.

I don't just play around with it,

like a child's favorite toy.

~

Music isn't just my life,

most definitely not.

It certainly isn't just my hobby,

I don't just like it a lot.

~

Music isn't just what I hope and dream,

or just something that I would listen.

Music doesn't just make my heart race,

it doesn't just make tears glisten.

~

It's all of that combined-

it shakes me to my core.

It's a lot of others things also,

to me, music is more.

~

It's more than just playing,

or practicing at night.

It's more than any joy,

or bright burning light.

~

It's more than the sun,

moon and stars combined.

It's more than I can ever,

comprehend in my mind.

~

So music isn't just something I love,

it's not just something I live for.

To me, music is better than that.

To me, music is more.

Hello,

Annnnd you have summed up feelings and emotions in a unique way that has me smiling and staring off into space.

Music is more than anything; it is comfort, it is empathy and understanding. Music is like the most amazing person in the world because music IS more. You did a great job putting this into words. I have tried so many times to write a poem about music, but it always ends up with me staring at the computer in tears with no words to describe it.

The flow of this is really good, it runs smoothly until;

Music isn't just what I hope and dream,

or just something that I would listen.

Music doesn't just make my heart race,

it doesn't just make tears glisten.

I see that it has already been mentioned that there is a needed 'too' after listen, but it was bugging me so I have to say it anyway.

This was a work well done.

Great Job and Keep On Writing

Hey there Snaz!
Once again, another fabulous poem from you! However, I did find a few things that need fixing.

"Music isn't just what I hope and dream,

or just something that I would listen.

Music doesn't just make my heart race,

it doesn't just make tears glisten."
This is more of a nitpick, but after "Listen", there should be a too. I understand that the "too" would mess up the ryhme scheme, so maybe try thinking of a way to reword that line.

It's more than I can ever,

comprehend in my mind.

This is really simple. Just get rid of that comma. When you break up lines like that, you still have to keep in mind that a comma means that the reader takes a break. Think about this. If someone was saying this, it would be "It's more than I can evere *Giant breath* comprehend in my mind." Not so smooth, huh?

Well, anyways, this was still a very good poem, and I enjoyed it a lot! I hope you continue to make these aweseome poems!

Hey! I play a lot of instruments and whatnot, so I can totally connect to this poem. There's a sort of rhythmic quality to this poem, which embodies the way music is and the way it flows. I also like the repeated use of "just" and "more" to signify the effect music has on us. Overall, this is a sweet poem that uses rhythm and word choice to convey the author's own convictions about music. The meaning is still accessible though- Anyone who loves music will feel the same way. I don't understand the "-" after each stanza, it makes the poem feel disjointed. I really like this poem!

Hey!
Great topic (I might be slightly biased)
There are just a couple of style issues I have here.
I have to agree that the emphasis on 'just' has to be all or nothing. It actually disrupts the flow of the poem, and it's uncomfortable for it to go away and then come back. I think this has great rhythm, and the 'just' thing is bringing it down.

'It's more than I can ever,

comprehend in my mind.'
There is no need for a comma here.

I think I would like to know exactly what music is to you. What does more mean? You've just expressed a lot of things that music is to you, it's hard to imagine how it could be more than all of the wonderful things you've said about it. So what is music? How can something be 'not just something I live for'. That seems like everything.

Give us more, I want more. You're a good writer, this has great rhythm and potential. It just needs some change in ideas

hello :)

I hope your day is going good! Or that it was good, or it will be good! Haha (it's 11:00pm here).

But let's dive right into this piece.

First thing I notice, is lots of italics. emphasizing the word "just" it seems... Okay. I understand why you put this here, but in the first couple stanzas, the word "just" is in every line. near the end, it's in only one line. One of the stanzas doesn't even have the word in it! In my opinion, if your going to do this, don't just halfway do it. You have to fully commit! Which is not what I see here, just a note. (lol no pun intended.)

Also I notice some of your lines start with a capital, some don't. Choose one or the other please.

okay, now to the actually meaning of the poem. I like it, I feel like it's lacking something though...something that will make it 100 times more compelling.

Rawness.

I need more. so much more. I really want you to dig deep and tell me what music does to you. How does it make you feel? does it rattle your bones? Like, I need some imagery here. I'm very into music, and I see the overall theme here in this poem is that music is more...so why is it more? why should I care?

Get me to care, get me thinking that music is more. I need to feel it.

overall, this has potential.

This poem was very moving and somewhat unique. I can feel the love within the music when reading this phone. It started out soft then ended with a big bang of roaring passion. Though you should consider use a variety of words. I mean reading the same words over and over again becomes a bit annoying and boring. So that is another thing to work on.

Overall, this poem was touching and amazing. I hope to see more from you as soon as possible. Keep up the good work, and hope to hear from you in the future.
