“Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.” --Edgar Allen Poe, Eleonora
i
They
have come alive again.
The words.
I watched them morph into a
million little birds,
Of uncanny reality, and spitting images
Of
tiny black bodies with beastly-
Yellow eyes.
They battled
together – each single letter
In a savage fight.
For they
believed it a beauty,
To sprout the wings of tattered-
paper
feathers; forever bound together.
ii
They
have come alive again.
The words.
I follow their movements as
they fly around
This cell I’m in;
Looking for a simple
escape.
Little black
bodies that fall down, down, down
Just following the will of their
creator.
They are battered and worn,
Strings of the puppets
that
Blow on wafer-thin skin through the breeze along the floor.
For I have willed
them to stop
…there is only one escape-
To write them on
paper in crimson ink
And push them out between the shiny silver
bars.
iii
They
are not alive anymore.
The words.
They shriveled and died,
along with my heart
In an agonizing defeat of a simple pleasure.
iv
Together
we rot, under foliage and dirt.
The words and I.
Stuck in my
mind, on my tongue and in my hand,
They crave a way to break free
from this empty-
shell that is now me.
I no longer watch their
little bodies fly
Nor can I hear the hum inside my head-
That
told me they were there.
Together we will be, forgotten…
v
We are alive.
The words and I.
We fly with tattered
paper feathers
Above the tops of the foamy clouds,
Through the
ocean sky.
We are alive.
The
words and I.
We perch on the wire- strings of telephone lines
And
ride the waves of the wind.
You may hear us,
As we quietly
make our way through this new life
Of freedom of expression.
We once were
dust, six feet under.
But now our boundaries have no end.
We
are alive.
The words and I.

HAI! Happy review day, fellow writer. I am Weirdo Potato and I am here to review your beautiful poem.

First, it was deep as an ocean and poetic as the color black. You know, while I was reading your piece, I have realized or thought rather that it has a lot of meaning. Your poem was pretty good and nice. You really are a nice poet, though. Well, I have nothing to suggest because I guess you already knew how to catch everyone's attention when it comes to this literature.
Overall, it was an inspirational and one of the very good poems I have read.
Happy writings! May the Force of writings be with you!
thank you so much for your reveiw. I am glad you liked my poem, i appreciate it. Again thank you
You're welcome!
Hi! I'm JustOneMorePoem but you can just call me 'L'.
For your poem, I have no words with the capability to describe what I feel. Your poem is describable only in memories, like the time you look up into the clear blue sky and feel a twinge of sadness for not being able to experience the freedom that is flight. I mean, we do have aerial transportation, but to feel the wind beating against your face, and to look down towards the ground and see the veins of cities and towns.
Your metaphors, oh! and your analogies are simply divine! Going anywhere yet nowhere to give us a connection to the imagery taking place inside of your work. To feel the colors and to hear the words fluttering seamlessly bye in an endless dance of stanzas and lines. But, the dance had to stop, and I'm not sad or confused by the end, because I feel that this ending was dignified and a wonderful finish to this orchestra of words, and I applaud you.
So, I do wish you a goodnight or good morning wherever you are, and I do wish that you shall keep making these remarkable works of art.
Yours Truly,
JustOneMorePoem
Thank you so much. I am glad that you liked my poem and your review was simply adorable to read. Again thank you.
This poem is very well written, and descriptive. The different sections add character and expression to the poem. Your metaphors and analogies continue to make sense throughout the entire poem. Great Job!
thank you for your comment. I am glad that you liked my poem.
