Muluth - Part 8 of SMSU Poetry

In ...

Most ask why I bothered, with his funeral.

Underneath that coffin, unknown to me, was just a fake corpse.

---

Let's say I am okay, no twisted monsters creep along these walls.

Underneath this face, is a crazed woman.

---

The daughter is the true insane one.

Handy though, just knowing that she isn't like me.

Hello! I'm going to leave this review short though hopefully it'll give you some quality feedback! Let's get into it. ;)

First thing a wanted to suggest, though it is minor, is taking away the separation of stanzas. I think this would really be fine all in its own stanza -- considering that the title is one word and isn't broken apart. I think the breaks between your current stanzas are unnecessary anyway.

Your writing style was very interesting. When I first read this it was a little vague, in my opinion, and so I read it several more times. I think that was the style you were going for. I thought this would be interesting to review seeing as analyzing less-specific poetry is harder for me! So, this was a challenge for me to examine. Carrying on with that idea, I know from personal experience that being specific in acrostic poetry can either be really easy or extremely hard. And, it all has to do with what you are going for. Still, with that being said, I do encourage more specifics. Like alliyah has said in this article, specificity helps the reader connect with the speaker and poem.

When we hit the first line of the poem, I immediately am filled with questions. It would be truly interesting to find out more about 'him' and this 'funeral'. I understand that this must be linked to the story you've put below the poem, but readers like me who haven't read that chapter may not know what is going on. It leaves a little vague mystery, which is nice, but I'm finding a lack of message.

The last suggestion I have for you is this: Try changing up the punctuation! A lot of times periods and commas leave a big mark and affect on flow in poetry. Because you only used periods, I found when I read the poem that it was choppy after every line. I wanted to indulge in the poem but it was almost like the periods were holding me back. Finding a way to link all the lines together with conjunctions and commas would really enhance the transitions through every line and thought.

In general, I did have fun reading this! This was the type of poem that left me wanting to reread it and find out more. Your writing was interesting. There was something about this that was eerie and mysterious, which I loved! I'm sorry this review was so short; hopefully it helped you out. If you have any questions please do ask!

Love it!!!!! I don't know what you're doing Fluma but every time you publish a new write, and I read it, I feel like you keep getting better and better! This is a wonderful outrage!XD Just kidding, that's a good thing! This time around, I think that it's even more deep and spiritual, and as you know already, I look for that in everything.

And oh my god! I can't wait for the gift giving to start, I'm gonna spend all my coins just to win, if we get a prize of some sort! But I know it's not about winning, it's about spreading holiday cheer! And as soon as it starts, you will be the first person I send a gift to! Get ready Fluma my friend!

YES! Ummm, yeah thank you! And these poems do elaborate to my story, which the link is at the end of the poem for chapter one.
