"This isn't working. We need to breakup"
My words hurt immediately, my heart tore and I saw yours crack.
This was the last thing I wanted to do, my feelings had left,
I wasn't going to lie to you. Lead you on.
I know it hurt, I've been through it before,
Why couldn't you just accept it?
You turned this into a living nightmare.
The tears started immediately,
Asking me what you did wrong,
Unable to accept that sometimes, things just change.
That reaction, I expected that. I understood that.
Telling me you can't live without me,
That you'll hurt whoever is next,
What the hell is that about?
You've made me so angry,
I think I hate you.
There's a weight in my chest
On top of the pain,
It's so hard to breathe.
The cracks turned into cuts.
If the heart could bleed,
It would've seeped through the bone,
The skin and then you could see.
The only bandage I have is anger,
Burning and cauterizing
Helping me to stand firm.
How do you call this love?
It's obsession, nothing else.
There is so much good to you,
Just learn to see it.
You base your entire life and personality around me,
You've made me responsible for you and your happiness.
How do I tell you it makes me sick?
You say you love me,
Your feelings haven't changed.
You think you love me.
This isn't love.
Love means letting me go.
Let me go, make this easy.
Please.
Every fight breaks me even more.
Blame me all you want,
This doesn't bring me joy.
You've made me a monster,
Saying you'll end your life when I move on.
You know what I think?
"Just do it now. Get it over with"
Do you have any, earthly idea,
Even a glimmer of how absolutely awful,
disgusting, cruel and ashamed thinking like that
Makes me feel?
I want you to be happy,
I want you to move on.
But right now,
I want to scream, I want to lash out, I want to fight.
I want to feel my fist connect with bone,
I want to beat some sense into you.
But I can't.
So what am I supposed to do?

This hit close to my heart and I resonate with this a lot. When love begins to not feel like love it soon becomes about letting that feeling and pleasure you find in that love go. It's always so hard to leave or escape when someone had binded you to their emotions and has made you their source of happiness and euphoria. I think you portrayed how breakups feel so well within the lines:
"This isn't love.
Love means letting me go.
Let me go, make this easy." These lines really made my eyes widen with shock because I remember saying similar to my past partner when we began to fall out with each other and words can't convey how much everything were things I wanted to do and say to them but I couldn't. I'm yapping now,- but you wrote this wonderfully! I look forawrd to seeing more of your work! - ZK
Hiii there!! What you wrote was great not everyone talks about it. Love is letting go, feelings change, begging someone to stay, crying for them, telling them how much you love them doesn't make them feel loved sometimes. It's just burden for them because when someone decides to leave and are wishing you well even when leaving had thought about how to tell you millions of time that they want to go and you should let them go that holding on is painful. When I was young and people in the movies said letting go is love at that time I was like why?
why let go when you love them you should be with them and do everything it takes to keep them beside but slowly I understood it the way you portrait the emotions no one talks about is very brave of you...
This is heavy and extremely relatable.
I honestly don't know how to approach this. It's such an uncomfortable but common topic. It hurts, it really does. And seriously, there isn't much you can do in a situation like this. Some people are like this and it really does shove you into this weird, toxic, manipulative hole. Which sucks. It really does.
This poem is an emotional web that I personally believe will affect so many people with how relatable it is. It will sink in readers and drag them into the meaning. How it's written is strong, and it is filled with emotion. I can feel the heartache and regret, and the desire to be understood. I can also feel the disbelief and anger. And the tinge of hatred in there too.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this, even if it's a heavy poem. It's super relatable and that's what I enjoyed about it. I don't enjoy the pain of it, but I did like it.
Thank you for writing this.
