In Poems

I self-harmed,

I fought depression,

I fought suicidal thoughts,

I was angry, hateful.

I hated life.

There were only a few people,

One in particular,

Who kept me here.

He doesn't know it,

He will someday.

I have been abused

And hurt.

I've been cut

And scarred,

Deeply.

I eventually realized

That I had to change

How I thought.

I also needed help,

I got it.

I still fight

Depression

And extreme anger.

I write this poem

To all of those who

Self-harm,

Who are suicidal.

Please understand,

I have been were you are,

Life will get better, I promise.

There is something worth living for,

And if you ever need a shoulder

To cry on or lean on,

A helping hand to lift you up,

Let me know.

Do not give up hope,

Don't end your life.

So many of you

Have made me cry,

I hear your cries for help,

Just as I once cried,

I am a complete stranger,

But I can truly understand,

And I can truly help.

A/N

I dedicate this poem to everyone out there who has gone through this. If you chose not to believe me, I am sorry. I especially dedicate this poem to @PoTatOe001, who made me cry.

You spoke directly to me, you connected with me with all of your encounters, you then established your progression from those times, afterward you told me in the most beautiful way to take it from you, and don't give up. Every now and then, someone needs this. Not much is thought of it, but deep down, it truely helps someone like me, because sometimes I need reminding that i'm wrong, so that I never go to far. Everyone tells me it's going to get better. And most of the time, there is no reason to believe those people. You have nothing, except hope. It's the one last pure thing in this world, nothing can currupt it. It's speciel to give it to someone, and to that someone, it has effect. Not a lot of the time it can, but your poem here, made an impact. On me. And this is definatly something I needed to hear. I love anything that can have a positive moral to it, something that can understand the pain, and have a lesson to overcome it. 10/10, but that goes without saying.

This was emotional, I felt like I needed a minute to process everything. I myself have never been suicidal, however earlier this year I lost my grandmother and it really affected me. It got to the point where nothing was fun, no matter where I was or what I did, I couldn't feel happy. Not even for one second.

And this felt like an eternity, would my life ever get better?

Poetry really helped me get through my sorrow, and I am so sure your poem will help lots of people. It was really helpful and thankful of you.

Take care!! :)

Hey there! I do believe your message will be heard. I understand that your heart goes out to others who have contemplated suicide based on how you described yourself as having similar thoughts. I do believe this poem is a clear message and will help whoever needs that kind of help. I have no idea if @PoTatOe001 was publishing those poems based on her own experience because we actually go to school together and she to me doesn't seem suicidal, but I don't know her that well. Regardless of that, I feel compassion for whoever is going through these kinds of things, and I commend you for wanting to reach out and help. Even a few kind words can make all the difference. Excellent thought.
