This September will be YWS's first ever National Review Writing Month, NaRevWriMo for short or RevMo for even shorter! Are you excited? You should be!
What is this?
Like the great National Novel Writing Month/NaNoWriMo that happens globally every November, this September we'll be running an on-site challenge except instead of writing novels, we'll be writing reviews. Everybody can participate, but can everybody win?
How do I win?
It's really simple. All you have to do is write fifty good quality reviews in the month of September. Do that and you win.
Do I get anything if I win?
If the grateful thanks of your reviewees isn't enough, we've plenty of new forms of bragging rights. Winners can sport an avatar stating their winning status and for the month of October, their name will be lit up in a special winners' colour for everybody to see.
And what if I lose?
It doesn't matter, it's all about participation and reviewing
Can anybody join?
Yes, absolutely anybody! You can begin any time in the month of September.
What's the catch?
There isn't one except this: unlike NaNoWriMo where the quality of your novel doesn't matter, just how many words you get, this time around we want you to make sure that all your reviews are of a high quality. You should aim to get 100 points with your reviews (over 1000 characters), but that's not a necessity. What's really important is that you're helpful to the writer. And as always, The Critique Sandwich is a good place to start.
Anything else?
Record a list of links to your reviews in this thread, numbered 1 - 50 so we can keep track of everybody!
And if you are participating, come 1st September, you can use this avatar to identify yourself and other participants:
Plus loads of spot prizes, friendly competition, fun and most of all, reviews!
Big Brother, why do you do this to me? You know I am incapable of resisting a challenge such as this! D:
Well, September has just become the first month where I must balance exams, SBing, LMS II, and now reviewing. I have the feeling I shall have to scale my reviews down to average size if I'm not going to overtax myself...
Anyway, I shall edit this post each time I review.
There, I've finally begun - with six days less. Look at me, still as prone to pracrastination as ever... >_<
Sadly, I don't think I'll get any further than that...
