Drama Queen

In Depressing Poems

You walk around this place,

like it is your palace.

You act like you are the queen,

when you are just like every other human being.

You smile in front of me,

but you stab me in the back.

You get mad when I do something,

then you turn around and do the exact same thing.

You say that you always get ditched,

then your words get all switched.

You say you want your space,

to get out of your face.

And when I do walk away,

you say you want me to stay.

You attract all the drama

which just adds to my trauma.

You say your a queen,

you are, but only a drama queen.

I think a lot of people can relate to this poem. Some of the lines don't rhyme and some do and that makes it feel a bit wonky/bulky but I loved how light and funny it was. I laughed out loud at some points! I really enjoyed this poem. :)

Thank you so much!

Hello there Bellarke!

I am Costia and I will be reviewing your poem today.

First of all I enjoyed reading it. It was a pleasent and easy read. I actually found it amusing and kind of funny. I was resousful, emotional and honnes I appreciate that.

I will go through it and make some comments and suggestions that you don't have to follow if you do not agree.

Your poem is not seperated by stanzas. I usually recomend people to use stanzas even the minimum of two. However I liked the fact that you didn't use any since it would be hard to seperate it in this case. The whole poem is one theme.

I liked the fact that you used rhymes since it is very fitting and flattering for writings like that. It makes it stronger, more amusing and it underlines the sarcasm in it.

However you lost that in some parts. If you decided to write a poem that rhymes it should rhyme entirely.

For instance:

"You walk around this place,

like it is your palace."

The first two verses don't rhyme while the next two verses do:

"You act like you are the queen,

when you are just like every other human being."

This kind of ruinsin the entire poem. It makes it harder to read and confuses the reader's flow which is really unfortunate because what you have here is a very amusing little poem.

I understand how difficult it is to make a poem rhyme and to find the proper words to also support your idea, in order to express your points. However it does sound a lot better in the parts that it rhymes. For instance:

"You say that you always get ditched,

then your words get all switched.

You say you want your space,

to get out of your face.

And when I do walk away,

you say you want me to stay.

You attract all the drama

which just adds to my trauma."

This part was perfectly put. I loved the simplicity of the words and the verse to verse rhyming which made it easy to remember just like a song.

To close up my review, I really liked your closing verses. I felt like they really added up to the sarcastic tone of the entire poem:

"You say your a queen,

you are, but only a drama queen."

Even though if it didn't rhyme that well, I believe the repetision of the word "queen" gave it extra flavor and a childlike grace.

To conclude, it was a cute and easy read. I enjoyed reading it, not much more to say since it lacked any symbolism or deep idea. Something I believe was your intention. Overall good work!

Keep writing

Best regards

Costia

Thank you so much!! :-)

Hi there!
So this is really good. I love the rhythm you have going here, especially at the end! The rhyming at the end is also really good, and fun! The only other thing I have to say is that my favorite part is the ending paragraph, and I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Remember, you can PM me anytime you need someone to talk to.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to more!

Thank you, so much!! I just had to write this to let out some of my pent up anger, and frustration.

I totally understand, believe me.
