Lady oh Lady,

What a face like grace,

That shines like the sun.

Your hair in a bun.

Your skin like snow.

And everyone knows,

What a lady you are.

Lady oh lady,

What treasures you hold,

And gentleness told.

God bless your heart,

As we depart.

Lady of love,

The olive branch dove.

"lady oh lady, what a face like grace,"

Although I'm no Shakespeare, i absolutely adore literature that you can actually "hear".

The first two sentences of this poem wholly captured me; the adoration is palpable.

...to be quite honest...i could imagine myself saying those very words..and maybe just those two sentences are all I'd need.

Thank you. :)

Hey.

Welcome to YWS, first of all :D I liked this, good poem (first try?)

"The olive branch dove" is this relevant to this? I don't think so. Add some story to it, it would be more graceful, more intriguing. Attract your readers, somehow I felt your content didn't match up to the title at all. I would love to see more of it Like okay, you simply composed a poem, but put your heart and soul into it okay?

Keep writing and stay blessed.

xo

Thanks. Yes, this indeed was the first poem I have even written. The part, "Lady of love the olive branch dove," was referring to how graceful and beautifully elegant this person was but I guess you really wouldn't know if you just read it on the spot. Thank you for the tips! God bless.

Hello!

This poem was very pleasant to read. I especially like the last line: "Lady of love,
The olive branch dove." The rhyming helped make the piece have a nice flow to it.

As for critiquing... you might want to split the poem up into 2 sections(A and B) in between the stanzas: "What a lady you are. Lady oh lady,..." because you repeat the "oh lady" part.

Other than that, I thought this poem was unique in it's own way and I'm glad I got to read it. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for reviewing my poem I will take your words into consideration. :)

Wow! This poem is thoroughly enjoyable. It typifies the thought of being short and sweet. It has not only powerful imagery and description but also a warm, informal style. I'm truly impressed. Also, I like the repetition and the rhythm. Even though this doesn't have an established meter, its bounce and flowing nature are superb. I have been around on this website and have seen quite a few poems. So far, this one might have impressed me the most. It is exquisite! Keep writing, Nunyabusiness, and best wishes! I really mean it!

Thanks! This comment gives me great encouragement to keep writing some more.

You're welcome. :]
