His thoughts were broken when he heard Nira cough a rasping breath next to him. “Are you okay Nira?” Zoltar asked, brushing wings with her.

In the light of the new day a figure could be seen sitting on the shore, staring out at the swaying ocean waters. What was he to do now?

A few seconds past and a grim look settled over Hisster face, “Where are the others?”

“You think that’s what spooked the Antelosaurs?” Zoltar asked as he searched the ground...

“And who have you got here Racknar?” drawled a Ghost Talon in an oily voice.

As Zoltar slowly scanned the area his eyes caught on a huge, dark figure standing atop a rock platform. His heart jumped into his throat.

Zoltar couldn’t believe what Hisster was agreeing to. This was against tribe law. They couldn’t do this. The Keepers would be furious.

Lighting flashed around them, closely followed by a deafening roar as thunder ripped through the sky.

Zoltar watched warily as Sidious leaned over and whispered something to one of the guards, before flashing his teeth in a false smile as he approached

There was a splash below him, breaking the ghostly calm hanging in the air. He faltered slightly as he look down, but all he could see were ripples...

Just then a stream of ice cold air blasted over Zoltar, showering the pack in a beam of frost breath.

Nothing stirred, but still he couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling hanging over him.

‘Just a little closer,’ Zoltar thought excitedly, his muscles tightly coiled in preparation for the lunge.

​The shadows grew longer as Zoltar hurried through the ever darkening woods. Questions whirled through his head as he ran.

The Wisp Talon dragons approach the beach, the sound of their wings heavy in the night air as the time of the sacrifice draws near.

Zoltar has a heartfelt conversation with Felistia while considering what he should do now that Scorpus is gone.

Carefully, he began to descend. The tree cover was still thick enough to injury a careless dragon if they landed too hastily.

Images of fanged dragons leaping at him flashed through Zoltar's mind as he dropped the deer. It must be a Wisp Talon.

Suddenly, his back spines bristled, a crawling sensation slithering over his scales. Something wasn’t right.

‘What just happened?’ Zoltar thought, still completely bemused by the Wisp Talons actions.

“Poor Shadow Talon. You were foolish to trust me. Have you learnt nothing?” she laughed, baring her fangs as her scales blazed scarlet.

“Where’s Shiraku?” he blurted finally when he realized that the Sea Talon was nowhere to be found.

It felt so unnatural. Why had he agreed to this?

​Zoltar turned in a slow circled as he scanned the shore, desperate to catch even a small glimpse of the Ice Talon.

​Zoltar raced through the trees, branches whipping at his wings as he tore through the undergrowth. He wasn’t sure where he was going.

“Evening Shadow Talon,” Sidious hissed just as Zoltar leapt around. “Sidious,” Zoltar growled, not hiding his disdain for the dragon, “What do you...

He shook his head, disgusted at the idea. He wouldn’t go along with the Ghost Talon. That much was certain.

“He wants to use us as bait!” Shiraku roared, her web frill bristling with fury.

He sat with his head pressed against the back wall, his amethyst horns slick with water droplets. He was alone. All alone again.

“It’ll be less suspicious if we look the same,” she explained, before he could ask the question...

The loud thump of wings pounding the air jerked Zoltar from his thoughts. Someone had found them.

“Not when a storm hits,” Emerald replied grimly, “You don’t want to be anywhere by when that happens...

“Fine,” he sighed as he sank down onto the cool vines strewn over the rock floor, “Where do I even start?”

“Emerald?” Zoltar ventured cautiously, keeping his voice low. There was no answer.

Finally, she heaved a sigh and whispered, “I guess there’s no easy way to go about this…hu?”

‘Where is Sidious anyway,’ Zoltar thought suddenly, coming to a stop. He hadn’t really noticed the Ghost Talons absence.

The grate of talons against rock splintered through Zoltar’s dreams. His eyes flew open, his heart racing as he leapt to his paws.

“I can help,” Zoltar said hurriedly, not thinking. Emerald cocked her head, giving him a confused look, “What?”

‘What in the world?’ Fire burning in the back of his throat as he tensed, realization hitting him.

​Zoltar came too slowly. He groaned as he blearily opened his eyes. Sunlight flooded them and he quickly scrunched them shut with a muffled yelp.

Zoltar was yanked from his thoughts as Nova landed on the branch outside. He growled, tensing up on the sight of the Wisp Talon.

‘Wake up! Wake up!’ He struggled, clawing for anything around him.

Zoltar shook, his throat burning hot with the urge to finish the job his first fire ball had failed to complete.

Zoltar lay with his head over his paws, staring out the door, his eyes locked on the silhouette of Solar.
