Good night, moon.
I'll see you in the morning.
Catching you in the corner of my eye,
Between the clouds of sailor warnings.
From here to there,
It's a good seven hours.
Well, six and a half,
If you include a shower.
Time for a nice,
Deep rest.
In a cluttered room,
All around my 'nest'.
Deep isn't the word,
My bad.
Deep sleep,
I never had.
Describe it,
As snazzy and simple.
No real rest,
And not humble.
My mind bounces,
Off beat but yet in tune.
Knowing the end of this,
Is quite soon.
Might as well have fun,
And enjoy.
Do crazy things,
Like they are toys.
If it was a dance,
It's no Charleston or Carlton.
If anything,
It's skankin'.
A classic Strangelove poem. Weird meaning, simplistic writing, simplistic style, and an author's note

I actually enjoyed the simplicity of this poem. Brevity poems, regardless of how "weird in meaning" they are, can be quite revealing and interesting.
My favorite line in this poem was:
"My mind bounces,
Off beat but yet in tune."
The oxymoron is perfectly place and well stated. I got a deeper connection to this line because it reminds me of how many thoughts could run through the human brain at any given second, yet can be contained in one location as we focus on other things. Multitasking with thoughts is that best way I can put it.
I also really loved the opening lines of your poem. It was very strong. I see a crescent of the moon in the sky sometimes during the day and I cant help but wonder if the moon refuses to be forgotten or share it's presence with the sun. It's a strange thought but the fact that you mentioned it in your poem really made me smile.
The flow of your poem was good along with the rhyme. But one thing I would suggest is that you try to keep an order. I felt as though each stanza was disconnected from the one before it and the one to follow.
besides that, I must say that I enjoyed reading this.
Write on!!!!
Haha, I don't know if you intended it, but you have a good bit of humor here!
I love the line "It's no Charleston or Carlton." That would probably be my favorite line, if I were into choosing favorites.
I also love the style of classically, simplistic poetry you've decided to create this in.
And I can't really critique the poem, because of the style you've chosen. But all in all, I enjoyed it.
8/10.
Good Luck To You!
Hey, Stsngelove!
Ooo! Skanking. This is so interesting! I wonder what made you write about this...
Anyway! What I found out about Skanking:
Skanking is a form of dancing practiced in the ska, ska punk, hardcore punk, reggae, jump-up (a drum and bass sub-genre) and other music scenes.
Originally, skanking consisted of a “running man” motion of the legs to the beat while alternating bent-elbow fist-punches, left and right. Over time, however, variations have emerged across the musical world. The punk version features a sharp striking out look with the arms, and is sometimes used in moshing to knock around others doing the same.
And Ska:
Ska a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s, and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the upbeat.
Hmm. This is fascinating. Strange, you've got me so curious!
This is ... Well, strange, but my sister watches a program on TV, a cartoon, (which is a bit out of her age range) about mystery solvers
I bet you can guess what it isand they were Skanking on that. So I am aware of what it is. Like, Wiki told me, it's Jamaican and it's very catchy and upbeat. My favourite bit, last stanza:
I've got nothing to complain about this. It is just a fun-loving poem which I enjoyed reading. Great job!
Yours sincerely,
Traunt
I really like this even though it's a little confusing to me. But it's good like it runs together well and it makes sense but "skankin'" it's just I don't know I like it. I don't know why I like it I just do. I have two favorite parts!
"Good night, moon.
I'll see you in the morning."
-I've always been a night person and I can relate to this part very well! I like it.
"Might as well have fun,
And enjoy.
Do crazy things,
Like they are toys."
-Because you should have fun and do crazy things in life before it's too late.
First off, thanks for the review
Skankin' is also known as the dance you do in the genre 'ska' so yeah, it loosely relates to that
You're welcome. I'll have to look more into it because I'm intrigued to find out more.
