This Terrible Place

In Poetry B.C.

This place is dark and dank and cold,
The aged food now flecked with mold,
All light lost in the window's grime,
Others' words reduced to pantomime
For I don't listen to what they say;
I say "Things will change another day."
Well I climb mountains of tumbling clothes,
Trudge rivers of garbage and paper-piled groves.
Trapped forever in utter gloom -
Oh, but where are my manners? - welcome to my room!

Spoiler! :
Well, my parents were teasing me about my room...so I was inspired haha. Feel free to tear this quick-write apart

Hi there!
This poem definitely made me laugh. I wrote a song with similar sentiments not long ago :). Thank you for the permission to be nit-picky...don't mind if I do :)

This place is dark and dank and cold, I'd recommend using an active verb here, like "feels," only something cooler.
The aged food now flecked with mold,
All light lost in the window's grime,Word choice: maybe "trapped" instead?
Others' words reduced to pantomime I would specify whose words here, just so the reader knows this line has a specific purpose other than a convenient rhyme.
For I don't listen to what they say;
I say "Things will change another day." You say "say" in the previous line, so maybe say "I tell them" just to keep word variety.
WellI climb mountains of tumbling clothes,
Trudge rivers of garbage and paper-piled groves. I like the imagery in these two lines! Well done!
Trapped forever in utter gloom -
Oh, but where are my manners? - Welcome to my room!

I hope my comments are helpful. Thanks for sharing this piece! PM me if you have any questions, and happy writing!
