Skin Talks

In Poetry B.C.

I.

it’s funny how skin talks.

            but it’s a rare
resounding whisper that

         can’t speak without the collision

of another’s skin to talk to,
         without the gentle touching

of shaking palms and gentle
                          finger figures.

II.

and my skin’s been silent
     since you’ve left me.

it won’t talk to anyone else.

III.

i used to try

to coax myself outside of my
exterior in hopes that i could speak
to myself again without you, but
                  it’s funny how

 you don’t know yourself
         when others don’t know you,

 or love you,

       or feel anything for you.

to be anything alone is an aimless pursuit, heart.

IV.

there was a time when

i could talk to you, but

now my skin is shy, and

       i’m trapped inside, waiting

                                        for you to whisper back…

Wow, I really liked this! Beautiful and terrific quality :)
I enjoyed how you numbered the stanzas with Roman numerals. It gave it a bit of a "short vignettes" feeling, if that makes sense. Like short snapshots in a film, showing different scenes that make up one larger scene of emotion.
Just so perfect. You should submit this to a publication :)
There's a lot more I'd like to say about this poem, but I can't find the words ... :')
