Finally, Getting Better.

In Poetry

The rain is falling, and for once I am calm,
The hysteria, for now, is subdued.
The patter of the rain on the roof above,
Is lulling me into the sort of happiness
That even you can't take away from me.

The sun doesn't blind me, just clouds,
Are ever present in the soothing sky.
Should I find this sad or depressing?
No, I think not. The sky is now crying,
But for once, my cheeks are dry.

The sun is peeking through clouds,
My eyes are finding their light,
From where it hid in all the gloom.
I find that my hands no longer shake,
My muscles, they flex and they groan.

I finally gather my courage to leave,
This depressing but comfy gray couch.
I slide on my jeans, and put on my shoes,
Then I open the door to go on outside,
To enjoy the last drops of sparkling rain,
And the bark of my dog as she plays
And supports my ever lifting spirit.

A smile, for once, has crossed my face,
My complexion is no longer gray.
I'm finding my backbone, and my wings
To fly from your torturous impurities.

Love!!! There was so much imagery and I could picture the scene perfectly. I like how it isn't really much about being depressed and making the reader sad or feeling happy and making the reader excited. It was more true to real life than a lot of poems. It talked about the lows of life, but also about the good times that can come when you least expect it. At least, that what I interpreted. I liked your use of punctuation a lot. It fit perfectly with the emotions and rhythm of the poem. A lot of people don't use much punctuation in poetry, but I like when it is used because it adds to the rhythm and flow of the poem. On th etechnical side, I didn't catch any grammar or spelling mistakes. Good job!

hello ....

well this was a pretty good poem , i loved the imagery in it , especially these parts :

The rain is falling, and for once I am calm,
The hysteria, for now, is subdued.
The patter of the rain on the roof above,
Is lulling me into the sort of happiness

The sun doesn't blind me, just clouds,
Are ever present in the soothing sky.
Should I find this sad or depressing?
No, I think not. The sky is now crying,
But for once, my cheeks are dry.

also i loved the description in this one it was expressive ...

I finally gather my courage to leave,
This depressing but comfy gray couch.
I slide on my jeans, and put on my shoes,
Then I open the door to go on outside,
To enjoy the last drops of sparkling rain,
And the bark of my dog as she plays
And supports my ever lifting spirit.

and i think you wrote a very interesting poem ,but it is kind of mistry because i couldn't

understand if it's happy or sad .

anyway it was a good one .

keep up the good writing :)

This is a poem in which I am not sure this is supposed to make me happy or sad! Defiantly your Rhythm is your best strength here, it makes the poem flow very well. At the end I thought it rhymed, but looking back it doesn't. I think this is a good thing; your poem is good enough to rhyme.
Hope this helped.

Quite honestly, this poem is magnificent. I find it completely relate-able and powerful. The stanzas all contribute to the overall message and they tell the story in wonderful chronological order. It's beautifully written, and I love the style.
Who says that poems need a rhyme scheme? Anyways, I find the idea of somebody so used to depression and profound disappointment walking outside and not flinching at the happiness and the beauty of nature enjoyable. I love the idea of people changing, becoming better. I love the wording. Your vocabulary is quite extensive. You seem to have a way with putting the right words together, and I admire that.
With love, Pen.
(Also, you're great.)

haha thanks :D

This was definitely a narrative poem and to be completely honest I think it could work a lot better if you just turned it into a short story. It didn't really flow like poems usually do. Every stanza worked in telling the story and it was structured and everything but I don't know. There was a bit of rhyming that went just as fast as it came so I don't think it was intentional. It was a cute and empowering poem with nice details. I just think it could work better as a real story.

Thanks for your review. I see where you're coming from with thinking it would best be a short story. I think this poem might seem odd to you because it's supposed to be a happier and more upbeat poem, and upbeat poems tend to have better rhythm when they have rhyme. My intention was to make the structure a little weird so instead of focusing on the rhyme, the reader would focus more on the slight awkwardness of change. I made the poem slightly awkward to read on purpose :) Thanks for the review, I VERY much appreciate it. :D
PS. I love your profile
