Arms Around Me

In Poetry

The water was so deep.
It swirled beneath me like
A sudden storm,
 I couldn’t hide my fear.

I closed my eyes,
Let the flood rise,
But your hands
Pulled me back to shore.

You held me in your arms,
And let my tears,
My cares, my fears,
Spill into the river below.

You looked into my eyes.
“Smile that beautiful smile,
With your heart intact,
 For the world to see.”

The water seeps through
Our bed of grass,
But I’m no longer afraid,
Your arms are around me.

I really loved this piece. It has great emotion and flow. However the fourth stanza sounds a little off to me. The line"with your heart intact" seemed a little out of place. I would suggest that you consider re-wording or changing that line. Otherwise it's pretty perfect.

I don't think so alliyah, but don't quote me on that.
