I sit here and try to explain diligently
What I simply cannot,
Because:
The trouble with bringing forth your thoughts
And putting them into words
Twisting them
Melding them
Shaping them
Into the imagery that is
Poetry,
Is that you must first
Stare down your thoughts through the eye,
Reach their very core,
And understand what the hell they mean.

Epic poem!
It's really very good, because it explains the EXACT dilemma all writers and poets face-you have to first UNDERSTAND your own thoughts.
(which isn't easy) And the last line cracked me up! Haha, it really give a funny twist to the otherwise matter-of fact poem. Your punctuation and grammar are up to mark.
Keep it up!
Hello theironnovelist,
I love this poem, and let me tell you, this is a feeling I get all too often. I like how you use the indentations in the middle of the poem. To me it makes it flow more smoothly. I also love the blunt ending. Poetry with ending that are blunt and unexpected are sometimes the best poems.
I have learned in my short time of writing poetry, if you want to write a good poem, when you first sit down to write not a single word on that page will be the same when you leave. I feel this poem accurately describes the feeling of knowing a word you want to use, but only being able to think of a word that has nothing to do with the word you're looking for, (worst feeling in the world).
Overall this is a great poem and I love how truthful it is. As always, keep writing.

Hello!
This poem was entertaining and the title caught my eye, I thought "a poem about poetry?" Let me just say you did a fantastic job! It was a little on the short side, but if you were to continue this poem I'm sure it could become something amazing!
A couple little things I think you should do to make this poem better are that when you say,
"Into the imagery that is Poetry", Put poetry on the same line as the one before it. It was harder to read with that pause there.
One more thing, I would not put a colon after Because in the second line, in fact, i would mash that line with the one below it. Thats another one of those strange pause moments.
Otherwise I really liked your poem and the topic and wording is great! If i were you I would try to make this poem longer.
Keep Writing!

I rather enjoyed reading this...poem? It's realistic, and I can definitely relate!Trying to discover what we feel, and what those feelings mean can be a real dilemma. I often find myself trying to write poetry, and the words are there, and they're good words, but they just aren't what i'm feeling. Your last 4 lines are great, in fact my favorite lines throughout the poem. You're writing style is unique, but you maintain a good rhythm & flow throughout. I don't really see any errors that draw my attention. Great job on this excellent piece!
Keep writing,
~Nora
Evening!
This was an interesting bit of poetry. It highlighted the difficulties in understanding and interpreting meanings of literature. I suppose its all up to the person's respective paradigm to determine the true meaning. I thought this was interesting because it drew attention to that fact. However, I do have some suggestions. The formatting of your poetry is completely up to you so I won't tell you what you NEED to do but rather what you COULD do. The break here is a bit unnecessary unless you are trying to direct attention to it:
"And putting them into words
Twisting them
Melding them
Shaping them"
In the lines following, you have a stanza in which the word "poetry" fills the line. This break in the poem seems disrupting in some way. However, it's up to you. Otherwise, this was a nice bit of poetry.
Best Wishes,
Emily
