So...
Ignore my misconceptions about "puppy love".
And maybe I threw a few too many
obscenities towards young romance.
Call me a hypocrite;
I guess that's what I am.

Because,
truth be told,
I'm spellbound by someone.
Or at least
the idea of him.

I like the way he smiles.
How his eyes get small
and they sort-of glimmer
when he catches me watching him do something stupid;
embarrassed.
That's when he smiles best.

I like how he says my name.
Always with a purpose.
Not really an urgency,
just...deliberately.
Like I'm important.

And I really like
the fact that I like it.
Maybe 'like' is too strong a word.
Maybe I'm amused with this
endless exchange of notions...

...No...
No, I think I like it.

I.

Hi theironnovelist, xJ here for a review.
Alright, I really liked this poem, but I think the title should be more than just the word "like." But that's just my opinion. But anyway, Let's take this stanza by stanza.

Stanza 1: Great start to this poem. I just think that the "so" part is not needed. Otherwise, nice. c:

Stanza 2: I love the use of the word spellbound. It makes this stanza flow nicely. Great job, nice work, et cetera.

Stanza 3: The only thing I don't like about this stanza was: "How his eyes get small" It doesn't sound very good and confuses me, how can someone's eyes get small anyway?

Stanza 4: "just...deliberately." This line is way too casual for a poem. But most of this is just my opinion. If that's your own personal style, then cool.

Stanza 5: You nailed that ending. I liked this poem a good bit, but it was very casual, like a regular conversation with someone. Simplistic, but I can respect that if that's just how ya do. Nice work ^.^

May your travels through space and time be merry,

-xJ ❤︎

I've read this through a few times and each time it made me smile. It's really well written, and sweet. It's a good way to get your feelings out, perhaps you should show this to the person in question? It definitely sounds like you're falling in love, but hesitant about it. I'm very hesitant about love (of any kind not just intimate or romantic). I'm actually only on here right now because I can't seem to stop sniping back and forth with the person I'm in love with. I like your choice of words, and how it's all put together. I think more people should be hesitant about love, it's healthier than "oh we love each other it's all going to be fine!" or anything of that sort. Sounds like you love someone for who they actually are, not how they want to be perceived which is probably more of the actual "true love" versus lust. I'm done ranting hopefully this was helpful somehow. Keep writing though, it will help you and the world around you :)

As simple as this poem is it carries a deeper context about a woman who's madly in love with someone and telling the story of what he does that makes her feel the way she feels.
the length is one of the reasons why i like this, using succinct words to describe her feelings is truly wonderful. good job waiting to read another very soon

Reminds me of the Two Steps From Hell song, "Stay:"

Not a bad poem. Wouldn't review it, but I "like" it. Heh, see what I did there?

I think that this simple yet meaningful poem was created by a woman in love. This poem is good, to be honest. It shows your story with him, and how you feel whenever you see him, which makes this more personal. And poetry is a good way to share a story; especially a love story. XD

By the way, I don't think you "like" it. I say that you "love" it! And that was definitely stronger. Oh yes, indeed it is. XD

I'll give this cute poem 4 out of 5 stars. :) :) :)
