Islands

In Poetry

The sands of her shores
were made up of dust
collected from the crevices of book pages,
and her trees were the fingers
that touched a pale blue face above.
But the sweet air she carried
couldn't ward off the bitter tides against her;
pages crumble
and fingers bleed
(until her sands did dissolve.)

This was a very short but meaningful poem. To be blunt-I loved it!:) The imagery was great, and although there were few words, I understood where you were going with it and the emotion of it. I honestly wish I could express things in so few words and yet still make it sound incredible. Seriously. I haven't seen a poem so...I guess delicate in the way it's so beautiful. Please keep writing!

Hmm. .. I suppose being short is something that would normally count against a poem, but if it remains effective in its expression then…who cares!

All in all, this is a nice and sweet short poem that I am guessing is describing an island (or chain of them) via personification. Nice!

I would suggest some sort of criticism; however it seems that any points against this poem have already been made.

So in the end, Keep it Up!

Its really a very sweet poem. However i feel you could have expressed it better. You know, it might have made it a little longer but would have been clearer for your readers, with a little more preciseness. Otherwise its a quite different sort of topic you picked up and expressed it in your own style, personification was great, i must admit :-) . Keep it up dear....

Heyo theironnovelist, xJ here to review this short poem.

This poem is great! But I do have a few nitpicks on it. This poem may be short, but it isn't short of my nitpicks. c;

First of all, on line 4: "and her trees the fingers" doesn't make any sense. You need to add some more words to this so your audience can understand. Does this make sense to you?

This poem is great, but I believe it was inappropriately named. "Islands" don't have much to do with this since, in this poem, you are only referring to /one/ beach.

But overall, great poem. Not bad. But you should really proof read before you submit. And if you do, simply proof read again! This was great, keep writing. ^.^

May your travels through space and time be merry,

-xJ ❤︎
