The pig squat alone in a mucky pen,
like a bat in a cave, unseen.
Feet wedged deep into planes of wet mud,
his coat is filth-spattered, his spirit pristine.
Snout pointed down as it sniffs for spare meal;
his focus remains on things unperceived.
Simple things, those we all disregard,
hence, things the pig doesn't ever receive.
His eyes remain fixed, for he cannot look up,
too used to scrounging for scraps.
Neglect has left him burdened and helpless,
trust, for him, has led only to traps.
Mother kept away by a thick wooden fence,
father gone suddenly, squealing.
Nobody to explain where he went, just gone,
because his flesh was found appealing.
The pig is doomed to a fate like this,
although he does not have a clue.
And through it all his guilt remained none;
the day he leaves, squealing, is one we'll all rue.
To you, sweet pig, my heart goes true,
even if that makes no change.
I apologise for my kind but make no excuses,
for in truth, we are all deranged.

Hy Shauzer, Evzzer her reviewing this one!
This one hit the spot. I would love to see you doing more works like this.
It gives us an insight into the life of a little pig and lets us feel a connection with it. Knowing that it is about to die created a point and a realisation of the horror that is the manufacturing of meat. Every human should feel guilty in consuming meat in my opinion, even though i am the biggest hypocrite. I feel it is wrong, unnessicary and inhumane. Again, well done with this one Shauzer, very well done my friend.
Thanks Evzzer, we really should but I'm a hypocrite too to tell the truth!
hahahaahh o this pig really got a lovely relationship. beautifully characterized piece.
Hello!
But well-written, rhymed, and thought out. I especially liked the last stanza:
I hope you keep writing! I've read some of your other pieces, and they're all rather enjoyable, especially when you're in a poetry-kind-of-mood :3
I really liked this, no matter how saddening. It's very easy to forget where your food comes from, especially since a lot of providers make the process as separated from us as possible.
I couldn't find any grammar or spelling mistakes, so wonderful job there!
This really is a wonderful poem. Very sad
"To you, sweet pig, my heart goes true,

And thought it was very creative!
That's about it! I really enjoyed this
"Poetry-kind-of-mood" I loved that, thanks
Hello! Tigerlilly here for a review!

This is so true! Often times we eat things and don't even think about the animal that died simply for our pleasure... Its very saddening, just how selfish we are. This was an overall excellent poem, and I really like the way it was structured. The rhyming was well done, and the punctuation on point. Well done, and keep writing! I look forward to reading more of your work!
Thank you!
