Fighting for leaves

In Poetry

1.

Leaves crowd the pavement, a rainbow on grey,

some crisp like old parchment, some soggy and wet.

Feet intrude upon the heavy stacked ranks,

of leaves they don't care, of nature forget.

2.

Dragged softly through the currents of time,

they stay there, unnoticed, 'til the wind sweeps them out.

Flanked by the trees from which they once fell,

they know they are sheltered, safe beyond doubt.

3.

Edges silhouette against a bright shining moon,

as they loft themselves up on a rough shelf of air.

Dark upon light, a most beautiful balance,

one of the first, made deep in God's lair.

4.

I know my place in this whirlpool of life,

and i know it is here among the colours bright.

For voices that shout yet cannot be heard,

for miracles passed but never seen, I shall fight.

5.

Weapons, they are, some of Nature's few,

the rawest of beauties ever ignored.

Each one special in its own divine way,

on the street they sit, from God's brewing pot poured.

6.

I will defend with my body, my heart and my soul,

yet the masses against me are very strong.

I will battle the litter and beat off the brushes,

for to harm these sweet things would be far more than wrong.

7.

I am the spirit of Nature's fury,

I dwell deep in its rich red veins.

I bathe in its beauty and sleep in its warmth,

and when battle calls I take hold of the reins.

8.

Leaves crowd the pavement, a rainbow on grey,

some crisp like old parchment, some soggy and wet.

Feet push their way through the heavy stacked ranks,

of leaves they don't care, of that they'll regret.

I've just been reading through this poem and I think it is absolutely beautiful. Your imagery is lovely and I love your description of the leaves as they fall. It has origins of spirituality deep within it and it really captures the true meaning of autumn.
However, I think that in some places this poem is a little confusing. In one part of the poem it seems to me as though you are portraying yourself as a leaf, which I think is very soulful and beautiful. However, in another part it seems to be being told as though you are admiring them. I got a little confused at this point. I think you need to review your perspectives.
Apart from that this poem was lovely.
Keep writing and feel free to check out my work!

I like what this is about, poetry about nature is beautiful! I've always myself thought about just this, all about leaves, how they have to lose their battle against the seasons, and who could protect them. This is a very nice subject for a poem, and I think you have all the points there, but I think there is a lot of imagery missing in it. The subject of the poem is a subject that requires heavy imagery. (: Your grammar is perfect, not a single mistake, as far as I can see.

Keep writing!
