Good, evil? Human.

E - Everyone

In Poetry

1.

Eternally intertwined, are God and the Devil,

Like light and darkness at the edge of a shadow.

Would that the Devil suffer, and God marvel,

Yet where one steps the other must follow.

2.

It is a dance, you see, a most intricate kind,

In which both partners must think as one mind.

Good and evil merge in spins, sways and dips,

In a place where peace is a very rare find.

3.

Roughly and eternally, hand links with hand,

For not love, fear or hate can undo this power.

Freedom of the good is in high demand,

Yet these wishes are stowed in some far-away tower.

4.

Soul melds with soul until they melt into one,

A powerful creature of limits none.

Potential for darkness sits deep in the veins,

Yet light flickers too in most heavenly fun.

5.

And so, malevolence and divinity entangle their roots,

Mixing thickly to form what we call humanity.

From this base rises many separate shoots,

Some wrapped in kindness, some doomed to insanity.

6.

Humans are, essentially, a witch's steaming pot,

With two main ingredients they're hot.

Good and evil dance still, in confusion,

In our core they will waltz, whether we know it or not.

I like how you compare the good and the evil/bad as dancers and their fight as a dance by itself.
When you read it out loud ( like I also did here myself) it is going very smoothy and even. There are not places where it ruins the smoothness of my reading so this is very good so I will admit it here.
The whole idea is by my liking, overall.
You described the evil and the good like two different beings fighting with each other with no one knowing who is going to overpower and not always as in the fairy tales is the good over the evil. You make them feel like equals.
i like that you added a seperated paragraph specially to talk about the humans but it sounded kinda off because of the rhymes there.Maybe they were not thought out very well or not in the right order?Without that put as a negative comment, this is amazing.

This is really great! I love the overall comparison between good and evil/God and the Devil with the two dancers.

As far as we as humans know so far, the forces of good and evil never really seem to overpower each other. I myself am an agnostic, so technically I don't really believe that good will always overpower evil because that's just not the way the world works. But, I loved how you paired them as like a balancing act. Like it's their duty to keep the world in line.

The only thing that was a little distracting were the numbered stanzas. I'm not entirely sure why they're there :D But other than that please keep up the *fabulous* work.

Thanks a lot lili :) I don't like the numbered stanzas either, I just wasn't able to understand YWS's formatting :') I do now though, so yay!

Firepower takes a couple quick glances around, then creeps over and drops an envelope before driving hastily away. The envelope contains a letter which reads:

Hello! Quite a weighty little poem you have there, mister. I appreciate that you were able to talk about this topic (in rhyme, no less) without your poem turning very dark and depressing.

The final paragraph bugs me. That paragraph has three rhymes instead of two of four, which means you have an odd one out. I would rearrange it like so:

The ingredients for humanity burn in hot fusion,
Humans are, essentially, a witches steaming pot.
Good and evil dance still, in confusion,
In our core they will waltz, whether we know it or not.

I edited the second lens and switched it with the first one so it would flow better. Of course, it's your choice whether to use that or not.

Thanks a lot for the advice firepower, and although I understand and partly agree with you, I think I'll keep it the way it is... In the faint hope that not every reader has as keen an eye as you! :')

I reaaly like this poem. In fact I had a story idea with this kind of theme. It's sort of a fantasy love story about a girl and a guy which the girl's soul has darkness mixed in it while the boy has light mixed in his. Of course I'm still writing it but the theme is that you cannot fully get rid of darkness you just have to control it. But enough of that basically this poem reminded me of that lol.

The intricate word choice that you put into this added to the meaning of the theme. which with a theme suchas this one you want to keep it serious which is what your word choice does.

Like TiffanyToy said, I thought the title did a great job at luring me into read this. You do always want to make a good first impression and you succeeded in doing so.

There was only one this that I thought you should've taken out and that was the numbering of the stanzas. It makes it look kind of a rough draft instead of a professional final draft. But besides that I thought you did a spectacular job in writing this. No spelling errors caught my eye by the way.

Keep on writing !! :D

Thanks a lot Emma :) I know, I don't like the numbering either but without it YWS just tortures the formatting :"(

Ah, I see. Well then you can just ignore that part of my review. :)

Haha :") thanks for the review Emma ;)

Heyy!!

So, the title called me innnnn and so did the beginning sentence!!

I love the very fact that it rhymes and makes sense. I also love the fact that you made this poem flow and even a few parts don't rhyme. I believe these takes a very skilled writer. Obviously, though, this is you! Great job!

I also really like the topic you used to present the poem. This is very deep and true!

Wow! Line 4!! Wait. Let me rephrase that.....Wow! All of the whole poem!!

I also love the ending!!

Great job, all in all!

This seems very professional. Especially the topic it is based upon.

Never, ever stop writing....['cause you are great at it!!],

Thanks Tiff ;) I'll try to keep up the standard :")
