FEATURED MEMBER INTERVIEW: THEHOPLESSROMANTIC
Image
written by Liminality< PM: >

This FM brings sugar, spice and everything nice. Famous for her ‘Question of the Day’ posts on the People’s Tab, @thehoplessromantic became our FM in June. I had the chance to chat with her about becoming FM, Question of the Day and what she enjoys about YWS. Read on below!

Squills: Hi there! Lim here, reporting for Squills - the YWS newsletter.

We do a column interviewing Featured Members like yourself. Would you mind answering a few questions? c:

TheHoplessRomantic: Yep! That sounds completely fine to me!

S: Awesome! What was your reaction when you found out you were FM?

T: I was surprised that I got FM when I had only been on YWS for around 2 months! It really caught me off guard!

S: FM is always a nice surprise Your FM thread mentions your 'Question of the Day' posts on the People's Tab. What inspired you to start 'Question of the Day'?

T: Ooh that's a good question! I guess I just really wanted to know people's opinions on various things. I love to try and see the world through other's eyes. Just to see how they view things even if it is a funny topic, you know?

S: Yes, that's super interesting! What are some of the most memorable responses you've gotten to those questions?

T: Well I love all replies but I definitely loved seeing what people's favorite songs were. I actually listened to the songs. I also somehow have the memory of chem (@daisyletters) saying she doesn't like tomato sauce...

S: Ah getting song recommendations sounds like a fun benefit of those posts! What would you say are your favourite parts of YWS? Would it include the People's Tab?

T: Yes! My favorite part of YWS is definitely the People's Tab! You get to interact with so many different people with so many different opinions and views on so many things! I love whenever I get to meet somebody new! So many people on here are so nice and welcoming no matter who you are! I never thought that I would meet people that actually cared about me and understood me on here! I also absolutely love the books tab because I love reading until my eyes hurt. YWS has so many different stories for whatever mood I'm in! I can always count on it to find an amazing story!

S: Indeed, we do have a wonderful community Could you tell us about some of the stories on YWS you've enjoyed reading recently?

T: I am currently reading this one called 'Threads Of Destiny, Echoes Of The Pendant' by @CATSRULETHEWORLD387. I am enjoying it so far! It’s about this assassin named Dylan who is sent to go kill a leader. I will not say much about it because I don't want to spoil it! I also have been into reading poetry lately! The most recent one I have read is called 'then i ate breakfast' by @ThatOneGuyRonin. It is also probably one of my favorites! There are a lot of books and poems that I absolutely adore on YWS but those two are the one's that first came to mind when you asked this question!

S: Those both sound awesome! Finally, what advice do you have for your fellow YWSers?

T: If you ever get burnt out on writing, that's okay. Come back to it when you are ready, no matter what others say. It could be days, months, or years. Just do what makes you feel happy. Don't pressure yourself into writing just for other people's enjoyment. Make sure you're happy too.

S: That is very wise advice! Thanks so much for doing this interview, and congrats once again on FM!

T: Thanks! This was fun!

If you haven’t yet, join us in congratulating Hop on her FM thread or on her wall!

Would you like to ask Pruno a question and get a slice of his interpretations? You can ask him anything you want! It could be a personal problem, or writing advice and tips, even your calculus homework or something else ridiculous! Just PM Pruno with your question! Be sure to follow this template --->
Spoiler
Name : (Please do not use your real name. You can use your YWS username or a funny anonymous title like 'Stressed Buddy', 'Worried Wart', 'Crazy', 'Criminal Mind', 'Anonymous'.)

Question : Ask me anything! Astonish me, I challenge you. But please make sure that your question is substantial enough for me to give you a proper answer. The more I can write in reply the more fun it is for everyone. Tip: You may like to begin with something like 'Dear Pruno the Purple Supremo' or 'To most esteemed overlord' or anything you like.

Is this a really serious or personal question? Would you be upset if the answer was ridiculous? : yes or no. (If you answer 'No' it doesn't mean you won't get a serious answer, it just means that you won’t get offended if you happen not to get one.)

COWFOLK VS ALIENS - REVIEW DAY
Image
written by Liminality< PM: >

The official recap of our most recent Review Day in August calls it "historic" and it's easy to see why! One - Cowfolk and Aliens were neck and neck for a lot of the contest, which doesn't always happen during a Review Day. Two - both teams chose iconic group club avatars, pictured below. Three - we also surpassed our goal of 75 reviews, writing 137 reviews altogether!

It was an exciting time as both teams drummed up morale in their respective clubs. Cowfolks leader @daisyletters and August Team Tortoise winner @AlexWrites offered additional point prizes to motivate their team to keep going. Aliens leader @thehoplessromantic also offered a point prize to the alien who wrote the most reviews. Both teams cheered each other on their club walls. While the Aliens initially had a lead, the Cowfolks made a dramatic comeback in the last few hours of Review Day, earning a close victory.

I for one found the sportsmanship and encouragement very heartwarming! This quote by @avimoon sums up the spirit of Review Day:

Whether you did 1 review or 20 or spoke encouraging words, you participated and helped out.

If you're hungry for more reviewing, check out our Review Month thread for the exciting review challenges in September.

When she transformed into a butterfly, the caterpillars spoke not of her beauty, but of her weirdness. They wanted her to change back into what she always had been. But she had wings.
