Behind Your Mirrors

I wrote this about 'one way friendships'. And thanks to Bluewaterlily for fixing typos and stuff. ^^ <3

Screaming won't help me this time,
I am locked in between these mirrors.
You say you're frightened; I am terrified.
You look at me but you won't see anything.

Stare into your eyes, can't you remember me?
Break glass, scream until your lungs bleed.
I am begging you, where have you left me?
Am I your mirror now, capturing every heartbeat?

Fall away, please spare me all the damage.
You punch the glass not knowing it's my heart.
I wasn't born to fall into the shadow of a reflection,
Sometimes saying goodbye isn't the hardest part.

I am slowly suffocating in this forced silence.
Remind me again why I am drowning in your mistakes?
Don't unfold your fist, I won't be able to help anymore.
Keep losing it, I'll be waiting for when the glass breaks.

Can you see my face now? What about my tears?
You know my name, but you've never known the meaning.
Go ahead, go back to your mirrors and stare at yourself,
By the time you notice the cracks, I'll be long gone.

Hey garalynn.
I definitely got "one way friendships" out of this poem. The emotion that the person in this poem is feeling, at times was overwhelming. I felt as if they were desperate to break away from the friendship they were trapped in but just couldn't... until the final verse. I love how you finished the cracks, making the person in this poem take a stand and leave and how the other person won't even notice. It proves and emphasises the emptiness that a friendship can hold. I enjoyed reading this piece a lot and can't wait to read more of your work.
Keep writing!

oh wow, this actually reminded me of how one of my friendships ended.
Anyway, great poem. It's very deep, very relatible. i can tell it took you some time to write it. "I am begging you, where have you left me?
Am I your mirror now, capturing every heartbeat?" I really liked these two lines in the poem. very nicely written.

Very deep, very relatible.
Nicely done.
I like part:

"You punch the glass not knowing it's my heart".

This is deep and took a lot of effort and shows that u are a good writer...keep up the good work and I think it makes a,or of sense relating to a one way friendship..loyalty now A days is rare and to find someone that cares and is there and 100% loyal is hard...seeing the cracks too late is a scary image...great work

Wow, okay...I am in love with this poem! I have written a poem titles reflection which is such a different take than this piece so I am happy about that. I love seeing the limitless angles a writer can take on the same topic. I'm SnowBerry by the way and lets get this review started!

I started to re-read it once I read the two lines--
"Break glass, scream until your lungs bleed...Am I your mirror now, capturing every heartbeat?"
Those two separate lines are incredibly!!!
I also love the line--
"I wasn't born to fall in the shadow of a reflection,"
But did you mean fall into?

I also love love love the line--
"I am slowly suffocating in this forced silence."
For me, it is all about how you word your statements, if that makes sense.
I love that you rhyme but don't sound to rhymey (which isn't a word but I hope you get what I mean by it >.<)

While everything stated above is totally and completely true, but. and I know its silly, I wish the second and fourth line in the last stanza rhymed...

Anyway, great poem!
Keep writing!

Hi q! I am here to review your poem.

"Screaming won't help me this time,
I am locked in between these mirrors.
You say you're frightened; I am terrified.
You look at me but you won't see anything."

This is both creepy and beautifully well written, which is a mix of emotions that I find weird. But overall, I really like how you have opened your poem. It is creative.

"Stare into your eyes, can't you remember me?
Break glass, scream until your lungs bleed.
I am begging you, where have you left me?
Am I your mirror now, capturing every heartbeat?"

Ok, I will admit. This scares the living jeepers out of me. Your poem is pretty scary at times, and yet because it is so well written, I can't help but read in. Such is the art of perception.

"Fall away, please spare me all the damage.
You punch the glass not knowing it's my heart.
I wasn't born to fall in the shadow of a reflection,
Sometimes saying goodbye isn't the hardest part."

However, I find this closing line of the stanza a little bit cliche. I also don't like the use of "heart", for the simple reason that I don't like cliches. But this is not something I want you to change. I like how you compare the glass to your heart, however, in some weird contradictory way.

"I am slowly suffocating in this forced silence.
Remind me again why I am drowning in your mistakes?
Don't unfold your fist, I won't be able to help anymore.
Keep losing it, I'll be waiting for when the glass breaks."

I ***love*** the forced silence part: she is held up against her will without any say, or democracy. In short, this part of your poem is friggin' awesome. When the glass breaks, what will happen? Let's find out.

"Can you see my face now? What about my tears?
You know my name, but you've never known the meaning.
Go ahead, go back to your mirrors and stare at yourself,
By the time you notice the cracks, I'll be long gone."

She is now officially gone. The mirror cracks, and her existence shattered. What a lovely way to end a poem, to such a lovely one as well. This is epic stuff.

Q, you rock! Seriously :D
