I Use To

In Poetry

I use to walk down these halls,

Like I owned them.

I use to sit at these desk,

Like I was apart of them.

I use to listen to these people swirling around me,

Like I wanted to be apart of them.

I use to sit in this room,

Like I could stop dreaming of graduation.

I use drive around these roads,

Like I had a vision.

I use to whisper, laugh, speak boldly,

Like I knew no one was listening.

I use to pack my things,

Like I had a place to go to.

I use to drive for hours,

Like college was the thing to fix me.

I use to lie in bed,

Like everyone cried when their families called.

I use to share with others, making new friends,

Like I had the ability to live this life.

I use to press the blade ever so slightly,

Like the blood leaving was me becoming less of a failure.

I use to chug down those beers,

Like sleeping with you would make me less afraid.

I use to rush past mirrors,

Like if I didn't see myself, I wouldn't feel so ashamed.

I use to take those pills one by one,

Like being numb with bring happiness.

I use to breath,

Like I wanted to live.

I use to sleep,

Like this wasn't going to be forever.

I use to dream.

I use to achieve.

I use to be somebody.

Wow that was really great. Nice and long. But I have to point out some punctuation issues. Instead of periods, you need more comas. Besides that, I can relate. I used to be someone too, but I defiantly changed. But besides that, if you can fix these mistakes, I can believe that ur posts in the future will be amazing. But besides that, 100% loved it. Very good. Hope for better posts in the future.

I can relate to this poem. There is anxiety and depression written in this poem. I have those—until now. It is never easy to cure them. If you think that you are happy, but deep inside it's a lie. I believe this say, "A person who is always happy, is the saddest one." The ones who are happy thought of committing suicide, unless they know how to fix themselves. I used to be on that stage. But I am glad that I can find my own solution.

If you are depress or feel that anxiety again, don't hesitate to talk to the person (your best friend or parents) Tell them how you feel, because they can help you. Or if you are shy about it, you can talk to me and I can help you :) I am not a psychologist but I know what people been through. Been there, done that haha.

Anyways, going to the poem, I like it. There are so much emotions in the poem. It makes people think that "I'm not the only one." This poem shows that, there are others who went through these anxiety and depression and they needed help.

Good job and keep writing :

This poem really connected with me. As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety I feel like this really sums up the emotions a person goes through as they slip further into a depressive episode.
When I come across something like this I definitely feel a bittersweet mixture of emotions. The connection to someone else who understands this struggle we face and the empathetic pain that someone else has to feel this way too.
I hope that this poem was cathartic for you instead of more damaging.

The repetition is good and creates a strong rhythm. I like that this takes me on a journey through the life of the speaker. I can feel myself relive moments as I read and there's a deep melancholy that almost makes me want to revel in it.

I really love this piece and I hope all is well with you.

That's very sweet of you. I definitely suffer from anxiety and depressive episodes. I wish there was more awareness and more of an ability to connect to others who also feel this. I am good thank you!
