I'm A Writer

In Random thoughts

I'm a writer.

I say there are monsters out there trying to chase me and I want so badly to hide under the sheets but I'm afraid of the dark. I say that the shadows crawling beneath my bed are alive but actually it's just a figure of speech.

I write about my chest, and how it falls and leaps every second I breathe, every second I try to breathe, and how I stop myself from creating sound because I don't want the 'monsters' to hear me. I don't want them to know I'm alone, fresh, raw, ready to be eaten.

I write about the way my sweat drips from my forehead, running past my mouth and how it tastes salty, yes, but I have forgotten. Because I am too busy typing about my nightmares or making my pen bleed in my blood.

I write about fears while I try not to let a single tear drop at night, because I'm afraid I'll wake my grandmother up. And I bite into my blanket hard, until the tears that have spoiled my cheeks, reach the fabric.

I love writing, and being a writer.

But when I pray to God at night, and force myself to think that 'they' are monsters instead of real life, breathing humans, I stare idly at my clasped hands. I stare at its calloused fingers and ink-splotched palms and think.

I'm a writer, and all I can do is write.

RoyalHighness here! Let's start, shall we?

So, I'm not a fan of the quotations around the word "monsters." I think it takes away from the effect that that word can have on the reader, and I think by adding quotations, you're invalidating those monsters' existence and, by extension, your reason for writing about them.
I like the way you write heavily but simply. Be careful not to stray into angsty whining. (Which you don't do here, or else I'd point it out. Just be on the lookout for that devolution in your writing process, if it should occur. I know it did for me.)

I love writing, And being a writer.

"And" needs to be lowercase.
Unless that has some special meaning to you that's communicated through its capitalization; then by all means, keep it and leave us wondering.

But when I pray to God at night, and force myself to think that 'they' are monsters instead of real life, breathing humans, I stare idly at my clasped hands.

Two things here. One, the quotations comment again. See above for that. Two, I'm not sure who "they" are. Does the speaker prefer to think of their fears as make-believe creatures? Or are they referring to someone else that hasn't been mentioned until now? I'm thinking it's the former, but I also think there are better ways to word this phrase and still retain its flowing, darkly ethereal quality in which you write so well.

This was a good piece. I hope you keep writing!

Thank you for your review! As for the quotation marks on they and monsters, it was sort of like the narrator hates the fact that he has to write everything in a metaphorical sense. Like he doesn't just say that the monsters are people in real life who are affecting his mental and emotional health.

Or something like that. Whatever. I don't get myself either.

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR REVIEW! I WILL WORK OUT ON THIS SINCE I HAVEN'T PROOFREAD IT THAT MUCH. HUZZZAH!

I love it. This story is so filled with emotion. "I write about my chest. About how it falls and leaps every second I breathe. Every second I try to breathe" I love that part. I can relate so fully to it. I know the feeling of trying to draw in that one breath. I liked how the story starts and ends with a sentance that has "I'm a writer" in it. It creates a feeling of the story being tied together.

One thing that might work: you have lots of really small sentences then you have "I write about fears while I try not to let a single tear drop at night, because I'm afraid I'll wake my grandmother up" I find it doesn't really flow. Would it work if you put a period after "night", and take out the "because"? It would look kind of like this: "...I try not to let a single tear drop. I'm afraid..."

I look forward to reading more of your work!!

Thank your for your review!!!

Hi! Akelia here! Time for a review :)

So, let's get started with this review. I like to do all my reviews with sweet and sour, so let's start with sour, just to get it over with.

1. I noticed that in the sentence ["I write about fears while I try not to let a single tear drop at night because I'm afraid I'll wake my grandmother up."] It'd not really anything is wrong with it, but when I was reading this, it was kind of hard to follow because the sentence is longer. I would suggest a comma after the word 'because.'

Now for the sweet!

I thought this was SOOO good! While being a writer myself, I really thought that this kind of applied to me, and it was relatable. You were very descriptive in your writing, and I really got a picture. The picture I got was that the writer is kind of scared about the things they write about, and that those things come to life. All in all, this was very well written! Good job!

Never stop writing

Thank you for your review! I'm glad that you pointed out run off sentences and whatnot. And I'm happy that you related to it!!!

King Here
This work kind of started to look as a relatable one at the beginning because the monsters part under the bed. I thought about every small kid's fear about the monsters under the bed and the serial killer in the closet. I hope I am not the only one. It became very deeper and realistic after the start. This work really shows the world from the eyes of a very good writer who is really a writer in any matters and ways. The way you decribe each movement and each sound that you hear. The good writer sometimes uses the things around them from the daily life of their to make up a good storyline or whatever it is when they write. A writer that is documentaring/noting everything to use it later. The pen in the blood was a very interesting sudden extra detail. Only two things that I want to point out.

until the fears that have spoiled my cheeks, reach the fabric.

By 'fears' I think you meant 'tears' here. Typo?

'And being a writer.' needs to start with a small letter.

That is all for this work. Keep on writing.

*copies review* *posts as mine* ....ihe already said what I would have...no need to repeat again.... Good work though!
