What is Time?

What is time?
Some say it creates memories
Some say it tells great stories
Some say it is nothing but a burden

Time is many things
Time can be happy
Or time can be unhappy
But time will go on

Time is a never-ending cycle
Of people dying
And people trying
To get through the rough spots

But no matter what happens
Time will go on
An ever-lasting bond
That connects us to the world

Just imagine a world without time
There would be no memories
No cherishing your families
There would only be dull nothingness

Without time you couldn't remember
You wouldn't recognize the faces
Or all the lovely places
Or what happened yesterday

Without time no one would age
Or die or really even live
To no one your blessings could you give
Because no one would care at all

But though time may go on forever
Your time on Earth is limited
Don't let yourself be defeated
By the smaller things that will soon fade away

Don't sit there all alone
Yearning for an escape from the past
Sitting at home will get you nowhere fast
So go out and live your life while you have it

Don't waste your time on simple things
That will soon fade away
Focus on the things that will stay
Like love and happiness

It's okay to feel sad
But don't do only that
For the sadness will only last
For as long as you let it weigh you down

Time is a complicated thing
No scientist on Earth can figure it out
And tell you exactly what it's about
No one can explain time

Time simply is
It's there and always will be
Time is something you can not see
But it is there guiding the way

'Without time there would be no pain
No killing the innocent in order to gain
No need to get an unwarranted blame
To lose oneself for the price of fame....
Time: unfathomable as it goes
Speeding up here
Then, unexpectedly, there it slows
My memoir of the once great Leir'

I am glad that I am not the only writer with a thing for time. It is truly is it not? I love how you took an informative stance, ambivalent initially and then advising your readers after having captured us. The first three stanzas where my absolute favorite though. Keep writing!!

Dear FallenAngel97,

I really liked your poem! It was very detailed, and I thought it really captured the essence of time. However, I feel like it was a little bit too drawn-out. It seemed like you were mostly stating flatly what time was about. I might suggest using metaphors or puns to help keep the reader wanting more. Adding a really great and thought provoking line was a great ending!

Best of luck,
Gg127

thanks:) and I will keep that in mind

Oh. My. Gosh.
<3 Loved. Is it okay if I take this poem and write it in my favorite notebook??? It's really beautiful. and I guess it'll be my favorite till the last. Thank you for coming up with this epic poem

thank you for liking it! and yes, you may write it down, as long as you don't steal it. I'm hoping to be a published writer someday:)

It’s not unorthodox, I thought it was beautiful.
